Keke Palmer Reacts After Surprise Proposal During SXSW Panel

Keke Palmer didn’t see this coming while onstage at South by Southwest.

While hosting a panel for her new movie, a man in the audience suddenly came up to the stage and proposed to her. Palmer, the panel, and crowd were caught off guard and visibly surprised.

Keke Palmer Stunned by Surprise Proposal “I Can’t Marry You”

In a video captured by TMZ, Keke palmer, her co-stars Demi Moore, Naomi Ackie, and Eiza Gonzalez are left speechless. The man was seated in the front row of a live podcast to promote Palmer’s upcoming film, “I Love Boosters”. All of a sudden, he walks over to the stage, gets down on one knee and pulls out a ring.

A sudden silence fell over the crowd as a staff member attempted to remove the mystery man from the area. After a pause for a moment of confusion, Palmer responded. She told the man “I can’t marry you. I don’t know you. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry sir.”

Palmer’s SXSW Appearance

Keke Palmer premiered her latest movie, “I Love Boosters” at the annual South by Southwest Music Festival & Conference. The festival highlights industry innovation with over 600 networking events, comedy, and free public activations.

Keke Palmer is known for her quick wit and relatable personality. Her career spans film and television, from her breakout roles in “Hustlers” and “Nope” to recent work in Peacock’s comedy-horror series “The ‘Burbs”.

The spontaneous proposal didn’t stay contained in the room for long. Fans immediately shared their reactions across social media platforms, creating a flurry of posts and comments. While some fans were amused, many expressed concerns over how long it took for security to show up.

The proposal seemed excessively drawn-out before event security finally showed up and removed him. One person commented that this situation was not funny, “Especially after what happened to Rihanna”. The comment was referring to a shooting incident at the singer’s Los Angeles home. A Florida woman was charged with attempted murder for the incident.

Although this proposal was unexpected and not unsolicited, Palmer handled the situation with her signature charm and humor. She continued the conversation on the “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast like a true professional. It serves as a reminder of Palmer’s ability to engage and entertain in any setting.

As she continues to promote “I Love Boosters” and other projects, Palmer’s ability to stay poised, even in uncomfortable situations, proves why she remains one of entertainment’s most engaging personalities. “I Love Boosters” will be in theaters May 22nd.
