“Marty Supreme” star Timothée Chalamet just made Academy Award history as the 2026 nominations were announced.
Timothée Chalamet Makes Oscars History
On Thursday, January 22, Chalamet received his third Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his role in “Marty Supreme.”
The nom marked the 30-year-old actor’s third in the category. Chalamet was first nominated in 2018 for his role in “Call Me by Your Name.” His second nomination came in 2025 for “A Complete Unknown.”
While Chalamet has yet to take home the award for Best Actor, his third nomination makes him the youngest actor to be nominated three times since Marlon Brando in the 1950s.
The “Godfather” star was nominated a total of seven times throughout his career, including four consecutive years beginning in 1952. He received his first nomination for his role in “A Streetcar Named Desire.” 1953 saw him nominated for the second time, this time for his role in “Viva Zapata!” The following year, he was nominated again for “Julius Caesar.”
Brando was just shy of his 30th birthday during the 1954 awards season.
While he did not win any of his first three nominations, he finally took home the award in 1955 for his work in “On the Waterfront.”
He would go on to be nominated three more times: In 1958 for “Sayonara,” in 1973 for “The Godfather,” and in 1974 for “Last Tango in Paris.”
He won his second award for Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather.”
In addition to Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for “One Battle After Another” (Warner Bros.)”, Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon”, Michael B. Jordan for “Sinners,” and Wagner Moura in “The Secret Agent.”

While it remains to be seen who will take home the Academy Award for Best Actor, Chalamet already took home the award at this year’s Critics Choice Awards.
During his acceptance speech, Chalamet shocked fans when he thanked longtime girlfriend Kylie Jenner.
“And lastly, I’ll just say thank you to my partner of three years,” Chalamet said on stage on January 4, 2026. “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much.”
The 98th Academy Awards are scheduled for Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Fans can watch live on ABC beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
