Beloved Mexican TV newsreader Debora Estrella has died at 43 after a tragic plane crash during her first flying lesson in Garcia, Nuevo Leon, as reported by Mirror US. The anchor was aboard a Cessna with pilot Bryan Ballesteros when the aircraft went down near the Mitras Industrial Estate on Saturday.
Just hours earlier, Estrella shared a bittersweet final Instagram story, posting a photo of the plane with the caption, “guess what.”
The two-seater Cessna crashed near the Mitras Industrial Estate in Garcia, Nuevo Leon. Just before takeoff from Monterrey-Del Norte International Airport, Estrella shared a final Instagram story showing the aircraft with the caption, “Guess what.”
Unverified videos circulating online appear to show the small plane spiraling before hitting the ground.
Colleagues Share Heartbreaking Tributes
The next day, Estrella’s colleague Maria Julia Lafuente delivered an emotional tribute on-air. “How can I say, Good morning, happy Sunday, when our hearts and souls are broken?” she said.
Fighting back tears, Maria remembered her friend as “a woman who lived life to the fullest, who never held anything back, and who always gave her all.”
She added, “If there is one thing we can all learn from her, it is to live life to the fullest and not waste a single moment, because every minute counts.”
Ex-Husband Posted About Crash Before Knowing
In a heartbreaking twist, Estrella’s ex-husband, journalist Jose Luis Garcia, posted about the crash before learning she was on board.
He wrote, “A plane has come down. Civil Protection in Nuevo Leon confirmed two people have died in the accident close to the Ciudad Mitras Industrial Estate in Garcia.” Later, locals shared video footage of the aircraft descending before impact.

Following news of her passing, tributes poured in across social media.
One fan commented on her final post, “Fly high Deborah. Rest in peace.” Another wrote, “Always so funny!! Fly high beautiful girl!! This news hurts me.” Others remembered her signature smile, calling her “a great human being” and “a bright soul gone too soon.”
Another sweet comment read: “This is how we will always remember you, with that beautiful smile, your great human quality, rest in peace 🙌”
Another one wrote: “No one talks about the comments that say that the little plane went up and down that you could see that they were trying to maneuver probably they knew that they were not going to survive that it was eminent to fall but they tried not to fall in such a populated area so the damage was not bigger so if it was so let’s thank him up to heaven 🕊️”
