A Promising Update In The Heartbreaking Kianna Underwood Case

Nickelodeon child star Kianna Underwood tragically passed away at the age of 33 after being identified as the victim of a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn on the morning of Friday, Jan. 16. She “sustained severe trauma to the head and body” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

And now a new update regarding the driver responsible for this has been released. CBS News reports that police located and seized a black Ford Explorer that was caught on video hitting Underwood. However, an arrest has not been made yet, as authorities haven’t been able to find enough evidence as to whether the owner of the car was the one driving at the time.

“He requested an attorney and declined to speak with investigators, police said,” the outlet adds.

Police say that the owner of the Ford struck Underwood “after crossing the double-yellow line to pass another car at a green light,” and she was then struck by a second vehicle.

Underwood was known for her role on the show “All That,” appearing in seven episodes from 2004 to 2005, starring alongside actors such as Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, and Nick Cannon.

Kianna Underwood’s Father Speaks Out Following Her Passing

In an emotional Facebook post that has since been deleted following Underwood’s death, her father, Anthony Underwood, spoke out regarding this tragedy.

“So this one time [my partner] Tia Ynvme Taylor and I were in the Catskills and we saw this fox on the road. I could tell it had been hit,” Underwood wrote (per People). “It was a dangerous curved road and I contemplated moving our car into the middle of the road so it wouldn’t get hit again.”

“But before I could do anything someone came around the corner and didn’t slow down when I started flashing my highbeams. So the driver ran over the fox, I remember the horror I felt when I saw that. Another driver pulled over and picked the fox up who was still alive and put it on the side of the road,” he continued. “All I can think about is did anyone show my baby that same compassion, as someone ran her over like roadkill. Did anyone try to comfort my baby as she layed dying in the street alone, or did they just stand around with their phones.”
