Former Nickelodeon child star Kianna Underwood, who was known for her work in “All That,” has tragically passed away at the age of 33.
She was identified as the victim of a hit-and-run driver in Brooklyn on the morning of Friday, Jan. 16, the New York Post reports. Underwood was “crossing at the intersection of Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville when she was struck around 6:50 a.m. by a black Ford SUV,” police and sources told the outlet. She was dragged under the car for nearly two blocks.
TMZ further added that the New York Police Department “received a 911 call around 6:49 AM Friday.”
“A preliminary investigation determined a gray vehicle was traveling westbound and struck an unidentified female,” a statement from the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information to Page Six said. They also confirmed that she had “sustained severe trauma to the head and body,” and was ultimately “pronounced deceased on scene.”
The outlet further reports that the investigation is still ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.
Kianna Underwood’s Time On Nickelodeon
Underwood began her acting career at the age of 7, joining the cast of Nickelodeon’s hit show “All That” in 2005 for the tenth season, replacing Jamie Lynn Spears while joining Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, and Kenan Thompson.
She had a few other roles, including playing little Inez during the first national tour of “Hairspray,” along with portraying Tanessha Labelle in the 1999 film “The 24 Hour Woman,” as well as holding a small role in 2003’s “Death of a Dynasty,” her IMDb page details. She also voiced the character, Fuchsia Glover, on the animated series Little Bill from 1999 to 2004.
Another Member of the Nickelodeon Family Recently Passed Away
Guy Moon, an acclaimed music composer who worked on several popular shows, including Nickelodeon‘s “The Fairly OddParents,” was recently killed in a car accident.
The news was announced in a statement on Moon’s Facebook page on Saturday, January 10.
“We are overcome with grief to announce the passing of our beloved patriarch, Guy Moon. He was killed on Thursday morning in a traffic collision,” it read. “We feel singularly blessed to have been able to call him dad and husband. As we stand together at the base of what seems to be an insurmountable grief, we are emboldened to grieve him with honor and courage with the tools that he equipped us with in his beautiful life. He has left an unmistakable legacy, and will be profoundly missed by us, his family, and countless others whose lives he impacted.”
“We are tentatively planning to celebrate his life on his birthday, February 7th, in the Los Angeles area, and again sometime after in his hometown in Wisconsin. We will make details available as we plan,” the statement concluded.
