For days, all eyes have been on Tucson, Arizona. That’s where local authorities say 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie, was abducted from her home in the early morning hours of February 1, 2026, per CNN.
Media from all over the world is stationed outside the one-story brick home where Savannah grew up with her mom, dad Charles, brother Camron, and sister Annie. Here’s everything we know about the house they’ve called home for over 50 years.
Nancy Guthrie’s Home Was Was Purchased for $85,000 in 1975
Savannah was born in Melbourne, Australia, where her dad was working, until their family moved back to the U.S. in 1975, when the future journalist was just two. They settled in Tucson, in a one-story home the couple purchased for just $85,000, according to real estate records reviewed by EntertainmentNow. The five-bedroom, 4.5-bath home was last valued at close to $1.1 million.
Charles Guthrie died of a heart attack in 1988, when Savannah was 16, according to E! News. But the family remained in their home, and Nancy continued to live there long after her kids grew up and moved out.
Savannah told the Arizona Daily Star in November that she and her family — husband Mike Feldman and their two young kids — typically return to visit her mom twice a year. She made an extra trip in late 2025, though, to film a special segment about her hometown for “Today,” as seen above.
During that segment, Savannah asked her mom why she’d made Tucson home, and Nancy replied, “It’s so wonderful. Just the air, the quality of life, it’s laid-back and gentle.” She added with a laugh, “I like to watch the havalinas eat my plants.”
After filming with her mom and taking a film crew from “Today” to some of her favorite Tuscon haunts, including her favorite Mexican restaurant El Charro, Savannah got choked up telling the Arizona Daily Star, ““I’m emotional about it. I’m very proud of Tucson. I think it’s an absolutely stunning and unique place to be from, and I’m really proud of it, so this has just been a joy.”
Local News Outlet Says There Are No Street Lamps in Nancy Guthrie’s ‘Safe & Quiet’ Neighborhood
The Guthrie home has been a gathering spot for family and friends over the years, including a visit from Savannah’s “Today” co-anchor Craig Melvin in March 2024.
Built in 1969 and located in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood, Nancy’s 3,776-square-foot home is located on nearly an acre of arid land, with a swimming pool in the back, as seen in aerial videos from local news channel KGUN9.
The outlet described the area as a “friendly neighborhood,” known for being “safe and quiet.” KGUN9’s Athena Kehoe noted, however, that the neighborhood has no street lights, leaving it “very dark out here” at night.
Records show there was an attempt to sell the home in early 2007 for $950,000. After the price was lowered to $875,000 that summer, the home was eventually taken off the market on October of that year.
