Nancy Guthrie Case: Psychologist Notices Important Detail in Savannah Guthrie Interview

The kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie from her home in Tucson, Arizona has proved to be an immensely shocking and tragic event. That is even more true for journalist Savannah Guthrie and the rest of her family, who are having to deal with the disappearance of their 84-year-old matriarch

Members of the Guthrie family have already been cleared by law enforcement, with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department effectively ruling them out as suspects. However, one psychology expert has now noticed an important element in one of Savannah Guthrie’s interviews that may provide some insight into the case.

Expert Psychologist Believes Savannah Guthrie May Have Revealed an Important Detail

Speaking to the Daily Express US, psychologist Dr. Kelly Gonderman explained how some of the language used by Savannah Guthrie in a recent interview gives an indication of her state of mind and what the journalist believes about may have happened to her mother.

Dr. Gonderman, who is a licensed clinical psychologist and the clinical director of We Conquer Together, revealed that Guthrie frequently used past tense when discussing her mother during an interview.

In particular, Savannah Guthrie inadvertently began talking in the past tense when discussing her mother’s various health conditions. She said, “She was in tremendous pain; her back was very bad. On a good day, she could walk down to the mail box, so this wasn’t a wander off.”

Dr. Gonderman observed the importance of this word choice and why it matters. “When someone shifts to past tense while speaking about a person who is still officially missing, it rarely happens consciously – and that’s exactly what makes it significant,” she said.

She added, “Language reflects the internal model we’ve already constructed, even when we haven’t articulated it out loud. [This] suggests her psyche had already begun processing an absence.”

Describing the use of past tense when discussing a missing person as a sort of “anticipatory grief,” Dr. Gonderman went on to say that it is an unconscious decision where the “nervous system initiates before the person is ready to consciously acknowledge it.”

According to the psychologist, it is important to understand, though, that this doesn’t mean that Savannah Guthrie necessarily knows what has happened to Nancy Guthrie. Instead, it is a coping mechanism whereby “sustained uncertainty at that level of fear eventually forces the mind to begin grieving in order to survive it.”

Former Sheriff Kurt Dabb Says Suspect Probably Had Help From Several People

Speaking to  RadarOnline.com, the former Pima County sheriff Kurt Dabb explained why the suspect likely had a number of accomplices to help him both plan the crime and carry out the kidnapping.

“I believe there are anywhere between two to four accomplices,” Dabb said. “The logistics of something of this magnitude is too much for one person to handle, in my professional opinion, based on the facts as I know them right now.”

He added, “It’s more than likely the home was canvassed prior, either by the kidnapper himself or an accomplice. Whether or not they knew a camera was there was a culmination of their reconnoiter.”

  1. Unfortunately, I really think that she died way back at her house during the Kidnapping: that is the reason for the delay in ransom request, as the Kidnappers could NOT produce proof of life. I think it was accidental: I think she could not survive the Fear and Shock of seeing this masked man suddenly in her house. I think the state of the Pacemaker supports this theory, but I also think that Savannah’s brother-in-law had something to do with it as he has massive gambling debts.

  2. First off I believe that the person with the book bag is really a woman and the book bag and flip flops is a way to kind of throw it off but it also looks like she’s talking to someone else or the kidnapper whoever that is is talking to someone else like there’s other people there involved in that environment and it also looks like it’s kind of funny to that person the way they’re walking away from the camera cuz it doesn’t look normal on top of that who stops in front of the camera and at a time like that just look straight into the camera holding flowers in their hands mind you why are they holding flowers what is the point of taking flowers from anything and if that camera is still around that should be handprints on that camera correct on top of that what was the mother wearing when she came home what did she wear to eat at the restaurant has those things been discussed also why was the brother-in-law capable of giving a certain time frame about when the garage went down if she has all these disabilities why wouldn’t he associate himself with her to get in the house why was the time Factor so acknowledged by him didn’t make sense also what cameras are being viewed when they’re stating these things took place and also have they been to the restaurant and looked at any footage to verify who was out there eating and also why no one made contact with her all night after dropping her off knowing that she was to leave again knowing that she has all these disabilities knowing that it’s hard for her to do anything based on what I’m hearing no one had enough consideration to even talk to her from dropping her off up until her alleged disappear
