Charlie Sheen is sharing a surprising and lighthearted Hollywood-meets-politics story in his new memoir, “The Book of Sheen.” The actor, 60, recalls a moment from the 1980s when former President Bill Clinton allegedly showed interest in Sheen’s then-girlfriend, Dolly Fox.
Inside Charlie Sheen’s Love Triangle With Bill Clinton
Released Sept. 9, the memoir mixes candid reflections with never-before-heard anecdotes. Among them is Sheen’s playful retelling of an encounter that, according to him, left both him and his co-stars amused, as reported by People.
While filming the 1987 movie “Three for the Road,” Sheen says he was invited to Clinton’s home in Arkansas along with co-stars Alan Ruck and Kerri Green. At the time, Clinton was governor of the state.
Sheen recalled feeling honored by the invitation and decided to bring Fox along. “I was answering a reporter’s question when Ruck overheard Clinton whisper to one of his aides, ‘Find out what you can about the brunette.’ The brunette was Dolly, and to this day Alan swears it was an exact quote,” Sheen wrote.
Although Sheen admitted the moment was awkward, he says Fox took it in stride. “I felt bad for Dolly to be objectified and skeeved-out like that, but still had to take some pride in ‘Bubba’ fancying my gal,” Sheen added. “Alan gave Dolly the rundown in the bar later on that same night. To her credit, she laughed and was actually flattered.”
Charlie Sheen’s Life Reflections & Hollywood Moments
Sheen connects the anecdote to later events, remarking on how Clinton became the center of national headlines in the 1990s. Watching the impeachment hearings while in rehab, Sheen recalled joking to fellow patients that he’d one day publish his story. “I literally said out loud to the group huddled around the TV, ‘It’s kool, I’ll put it in a book one day and you can all go f— yourselves.’ (And here we are),” he wrote.
Throughout “The Book of Sheen,” the actor looks back on personal highs and lows, his path to sobriety and his most memorable relationships. The memoir also features stories about celebrity encounters with Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Andrew McCarthy and O.J. Simpson.
In addition to his new memoir, Sheen recently starred in his Netflix documentary “AKA Charlie Sheen,” which has been well-received by fans and is already a streaming hit. Sheen also appeared on his ex-wife and former “RHOBH” star Denise Richards’ Bravo series, “Denise Richards and Her Wild Things.”
By blending Hollywood nostalgia with raw honesty, Sheen’s memoir paints a portrait of resilience, reflection and reinvention.
