Australian singer Cody Simpson has long been in the spotlight for his high-profile romances with celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Ali Lohan, and Miley Cyrus.
In a recent interview on the “We Need To Talk with Paul C. Brunson” podcast, Simpson reflected on these past relationships, even admitting that his romance with Hadid, who once appeared on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” when she was a teenager, was especially memorable since she was his “first love.”

During his March 10 interview, the “Nice to Meet You” artist reflected on his relationship with Hadid, which began in 2013, sharing that he first saw her on a “billboard for Guess.” Simpson went on to share how he scored a date with the model, sharing a vivid memory of asking her to be in one of his music videos, even though “there was no music video.”
“I’m pretty sure I pitched her this whole concept that didn’t exist and she goes, ‘Yeah, okay.’ And I think that just broke the ice. So I started texting her and I’m like, ‘Ah I don’t think the video is going to happen anymore, but like, do you want to catch up? Do you want to go out for food or whatever?’” He shared.
He continued, “And I just got in my first car, and I’m feeling like the man, you know. And I couldn’t even legally drive by myself at the time, but I think I went, picked her up and we hung out.”
Simpson would go on to call Hadid his “first love,” telling the host, “It was kind of like she was my first love, man. Absolutely. We were together for, on and off, about two years, but we started hanging out and a couple weeks later, she came on tour with me, and we again, it was a similar thing in that we bonded through her family, she came from a very, very interesting family.”
Simpson & Hadid’s Amicable Split
GettySimpson and Hadid dated for nearly two years before calling it quits for good in 2015. Speaking to Teen Vogue that same year, Simpson shared, “I love my ex-girlfriend; I always will,” sharing that it was an “amicable” breakup.
Simpson also revealed that the constant media spotlight on their relationship was challenging, often distracting him from his music career.
“It was an amicable, mutual decision, and we still talk every now and then, but the highly publicized thing made me uncomfortable. Going out to dinner and there being all this paparazzi and stuff… as soon as we split I had the realization that I was straying away from who I was as a whole person. I want to keep it low key, and focus on my music,” he said.
After dating Hadid, Simpson would go on to date several other women in Hollywood, including Lindsay Lohan’s sister, Ali Lohan, Clair Wuestenberg, and Miley Cyrus.
