During “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” season 6, Bronwyn Newport revealed that her mom was living with her and her husband, Todd Bradley, while her father was under care at a facility for Alzheimer’s.
In episode 5, fans got a glimpse of Newport’s interaction with her mom, Marge, whom she calls “Muzzy.”
The two reminisced about Newport’s father, who only seemed to remember her as a teen.
Newport tearfully said those years weren’t something she was proud of, referring to her being a teen mom at 18.
She told her mom that she didn’t feel “worthy” and that it took her a long time to get to where she is now.
“You couldn’t have gotten there without Todd either,” Muzzy said bluntly. “You couldn’t get there without a dime.”
Newport attempted to laugh off the jab and replied, “I know. I don’t love you saying that, that I needed Todd to get me there.”
Muzzy shot back, “Well, you needed Todd to support you.”
In a confessional, Newport said, “Sadly, this is not the first snide comment my mom has made about me. I think I still need approval from her. I would live for her to adore me and approve of me and be proud of me, but I also wish that I didn’t.”
‘RHOLSC’ Fans Rally Around Newport
After episode 5 aired, fans took to social media to give Newport some love. One wrote on the “RHOSLC” star’s Instagram post, “Tonight was so hard to watch. I commend you for giving her a place to live with how she speaks to you. I have so much grace for you and think you’re so brave for sharing this side of you.”
Another shared, “That interaction with your mum was so awful to watch. Do not ever doubt that you did an amazing job because you did.”
A fan offered, “You handled that awful interaction with your mother with grace.”
“This is truly sad. I don’t see any resolve or closure ever happening. That would require a ton of therapy, introspection, and self-awareness from ‘ol muzzy,” a viewer posted on X.
“I now understand why Bronwyn craves approval. My heart aches so badly for her. This woman is so cold,” another X user wrote.
Newport Hopes Fans Will Understand Her Better After Scene With Muzzy
While on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” on September 23, host Andy Cohen commented that it was “interesting” watching Newport and Muzzy together.
“I think people will understand your journey and where you come from. And look, all of our emotional baggage can come back to our parents,” he told her.
Newport replied, “I love and respect my mom, but when you see the way that she and I speak to each other, and maybe what we’ve been through, I think you’re right. You’ll understand me a lot better when you see the ups and downs of that.”
My heart was breaking for you! She reminds me so much of my mother. My sisters could do no wrong ever. I was badly abused by father while everyone looked the other way. It’s a miracle I didn’t end up on the streets or prison.
