Eric Decker and Jessie James Decker are one of the couples going into “Special Forces” season 4, and they gave a glimpse into what fans can expect for the premiere airing tonight.
In an interview with ExtraTV, they were asked what was the most challenging military task. “Being in the plane that submerged underwater was by far the hardest,” Jessie said.
She continued, “And that was like day one. They really came in guns blazing with us. Like, boom.”
Eric and Jessie Leaned on Each Other For Support During ‘Special Forces’
Fans of “Special Forces” know that the show is no joke, and celebs get put to the task with no restraint. However, Jessie and Eric had each other for support and never felt like they were competing against each other.
“I’m never going to be on that level of athleticism. I know my place, you know. There’s no point in having that mentality,” Jessie told ExtraTV.
She continued, “I just want to be a support system for him, and he’s the support system for me because this is out of my comfort zone. And I just think we leaned on each other.”
Jessie added, “But we were also very independent from one another. We really weren’t together very much. They always kind of had us separated, which was probably for the best.”
Eric Decker Initially Turned Down Previous Seasons of ‘Special Forces’
The third time’s the charm. Eric and Jessie revealed to Us Weekly on September 11 that the ex-football player was asked to star in the first two seasons of “Special Forces,” but he turned them down.
“It just didn’t make sense, the timing of it all. Then they asked again this past season, but they had a different dynamic. They wanted another married couple. So he was like, ‘Come on. Let’s go do it,'” Jessie shared.
The singer said, “It’s just not anything I’ve ever wanted to do. It makes sense that he wanted to do it. He’s like a big, ol’ man that likes to clearly get rough and tough.”
Eric had been wanting to test himself on the military challenges since season 1, but had to wait until the right time to do so.
“I mean, we went back and forth on whether it made sense or not, but it really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do something really extreme, like bucket list-type things,” he explained to Us Weekly.
The retired NFL star stated, “To do it together was actually really fun. It was a whole different experience. We’ve never done anything to that degree, obviously. Just to kind of rough it and be tested mentally and physically, and have the support system was awesome.”
