Fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on “Bringing Up Bates” star Erin Bates’ health after she was rushed to the ICU following the birth of her seventh baby. Her husband, Chad Paine, has now given fans an update, informing them that she had a “severe seizure.”
He has also shared his own struggles and complicated emotions regarding his wife’s health.

On September 4, Paine made a statement about his wife’s health on Instagram. He shared two photos of her in her hospital bed. The images are heartbreaking to see. In the caption, he shared his thoughts and gave an emotional update.
“I have so many mixed emotions as I share this,” Paine began. “Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erin’s infection was getting better, but we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty, and tears.”
He continued, “She is in the ICU, and the doctors are running scans and tests to determine the cause. Erin is extremely weak and spent hours only half-conscious. As her husband, it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced — to sit by her side and watch her struggle while being so helpless to ease her suffering. I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend.”
The couple has been married for 11 years and shares seven children: Carson, 10, Brooklyn, 8, Everly, 7, Holland, 5, Finley, 3, William, 22 months, and, most recently, their newborn son, Henry. This has been a challenging time for the family, and Paine’s statement reveals the emotional toll it is taking on him as he struggles with feelings of helplessness.
Paine concluded his message by thanking fans for their support and for rallying around them during this time. “The hours have been long and heavy, and I know many hearts are aching to see her this way, along with mine,” he wrote. “We hold on to faith that healing is coming, even in the midst of the unknown. Your prayers are felt and we are forever grateful.”
