Reality star Katie Bates is opening up about a painful start to the year, revealing she is seeking professional help after experiencing a pregnancy loss and learning her husband had been unfaithful.
The “Bringing Up Bates” personality, 25, shared in January that she and her husband, Travis Clark, lost a pregnancy.
Just one day later, Clark posted a public confession admitting to cheating.
“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust,” Clark wrote on Instagram, adding there was “no excuse for what I did.”
Bates Enters Into Intensive Therapy
In a Sunday, Feb. 22 Instagram Stories update, Bates told followers she’s preparing to attend a four-day therapy intensive.
“I don’t really feel equipped to handle something like this on my own, so getting help feels important,” she wrote. “I know I can’t pour into anything else well if I’m not actually working through this in a healthy way.”
Bates, who shares daughter Hailey, 3, and son Harvey, 2, with Clark, said focusing on motherhood has been grounding.
She explained that “finding little pieces of normal life again” with her children has helped her cope while navigating the emotional fallout.
The reality star also acknowledged how overwhelming the past weeks have been.
“This year didn’t start how I thought it would. It’s been really heavy and emotional in ways I wasn’t prepared for,” she shared. “Some days I feel okay and steady. And other days it’s hard to even leave the house.”
Bates Thanks Everyone For Their Support
Despite the heartbreak, Bates thanked fans for their support, writing, “The love, prayers, and messages I’ve received have meant more than I can explain.”
She added that she’s still figuring out how much she will share publicly while focusing on healing.
Clark, 24, previously expressed remorse when he revealed he had cheated and wrote, “This was my failure and my responsibility alone.”
He added that he is “getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man.”
In a separate post, Bates said she is “taking life one day at a time and focusing on what matters most: our children, their future, and my own healing.”
The couple’s honesty about grief, betrayal and therapy has sparked conversation among fans about mental health, accountability and the challenges couples sometimes face behind the scenes.
For Bates, stepping into treatment appears to be the first step toward finding stability after an especially difficult chapter.
