Lawson Bates of “Bringing Up Bates” came to the defense of his sister Katie Bates Clark after her husband, Travis Clark, confessed he had repeatedly cheated on her during their 4 years of marriage.
In an Instagram Reel shared on Jan. 17, just hours after Travis admitted his wrongdoing, Lawson took a jab at how Travis’ two children might think of him after learning he cheated on their mom.
Lawson Bates Defends His Sister Katie
“One day, someone might tell your kids… ‘You’re just like your dad.’ Make sure it’s a compliment, not an insult,” Lawson wrote as a text overlay on a video of him lifting weights.
He captioned his video with the Bible verse Titus 2:6-8, adding to the deep message he intended to convey to Travis. “Young men exhort to be sober minded. In all things showing a pattern of good works: in doctrine show incorruptness, gravity, sincerity, and sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you,” the verse reads.
When Travis admitted his affairs to the world, he took full responsibility for “the pain, humiliation and betrayal” he caused Katie in the wake of his choices.
“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth, and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust,” Travis explained on his Instagram Story. “There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry.”
“I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for,” he added.
Katie Bates Reveals Miscarriage of 3rd Baby
Meanwhile, Katie just revealed she suffered the miscarriage of her and Travis’ third child. In a heartbreaking video shared to her Instagram on Jan. 16, one day before Travis made his shock confession, Katie said she will “spend the rest of my time missing” their unborn baby.
In the video, a somber audio could be heard saying, “Some loves are too hard to bear, and with great love comes great pain. And with great loss comes the greatest pain of all. If love could’ve saved you, you would’ve lived forever.”
