‘Days of Our Lives’ Actor Defends Her Decision to Crowdfund Her Wedding Despite Her Wealth

AnnaLynne McCord is remembered for her roles as Naomi Clark in the CW series “90210,” Eden Lord in “Nip/Tuck,” and Cat Green in “Days of Our Lives,” but despite her success in the industry, the actress and her fiancé, former rugby player Danny Cipriani, decided to crowdfund their upcoming wedding. She is now opening up about that decision.

AnnaLynne McCord Discusses Decision to Crowdfund Her Wedding

McCord and Cipriani plan to get married on October 22 and set up a registry list on Honeyfund, asking for help funding their wedding with items ranging from $125 to $600. The fund includes options to put the money toward various things, including beverages and photography. The decision sparked intense backlash against McCord and Cipriani, with fans reacting to the fund, USA Today reports.

McCord has opened up about the reactions and defended her decision in an interview with The Sun. “I was told I was despicable and that I was trying to extort money from my wedding guests. People actually donated ten dollars towards the wedding so they could write on the site that Danny and I were disgusting …,” McCord said, Daily Mail reports.

As for why they made this decision and how it became public, McCord has explained that too. “Everyone was asking what they could give us. I was like, I have five blenders. I have everything for my home,” she said. “We wrote on the wedding invite that in lieu of gifts we would love to feel our guests’ contributions in the flowers, music and on our big day. I didn’t know that it was an open link until a co-star at work asked me: ‘Are you crowdfunding for your wedding?’”

AnnaLynne McCord & Danny Cipriani Are Soulmates

McCord and Cipriani are so in love, and in an April interview with People, she reflected on their engagement. “I cried for 10 minutes straight,” she said. “At some point, I realized I had to answer. I said, ‘Yes, but I can’t even speak,’ and he replied, ‘That’s okay, it’s actually a good sign that you are quiet for once.’ Then, we’re all laughing.”

The couple met on the dating app Raya and started dating, but broke up in 2020. “We met 10 years ago but were on and off for a good four years, and in an open relationship, because he was playing rugby overseas and I was filming in L.A.,” she told People. Four years later, they reconnected, and now they are getting married in two months. The ring is impressive, too, with People reporting it is a “15-carat, emerald-cut diamond with seven round accent diamonds set in the band on each side, all in yellow gold.”

McCord described her man as someone who is “home” to her, adding, “I think he is a home that I never knew I needed and that I didn’t feel I deserved.” She also expressed her love for him, calling it “the best thing that I’ll ever do,” and said she realized they were meant to be together a long time ago. “I called this 10 years ago, I knew we were soulmates; I knew we were meant to be together, I was so sure, and I was not wrong,” she said.
