John McCook finally sets the record straight amid speculation that his character, Eric Forrester, might be leaving “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
Ever since Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) forced Eric into retirement, fans have been convinced that he would be ending his decades-long run on the show.
However, that’s far from what the soap veteran has in mind. In an interview on the “Soapy” podcast, hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart, McCook clarified Eric’s fate on the show.

In a video shared on the soap’s Instagram page, McCook answered some questions about Eric and his future on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
The actor shared what keeps him motivated to keep playing his role even after all these years.
“Well, I just love being there,” McCook reiterated. “I am not going to leave, I have no reason to leave.”
The veteran actor explained that he simply enjoys portraying Eric and does not feel ready to retire.
“When you get to be my age, and you’re an actor, and you’re still working, why would I walk away, right? I mean really?” he added.
Despite having no plans of leaving anytime soon, McCook revealed how he envisioned his eventual exit from the show.
“I figured that I’m never going to retire or quit,” he joked. “I will just sit here one day, and they’re going to call Laurette (his wife) and say, ‘he’s dead, come get him.'”

McCook has played the Forrester patriarch since the very first episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1987. He is one of only two original cast members still on the show, alongside Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan).
