‘Days of Our Lives’ Star Says Goodbye With Gratitude & Honest Reminder

This week, Nikki Crawford exited the hit Peacock soap “Days of Our Lives” after a brief run as Lexie Carver. The actress stepped into the role that was previously played by fan favorite Renée Jones. Lexie died in 2012 but, in true soap fashion, returned from the dead earlier this year thanks to a miracle drug created by her brother EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and mad scientist Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton). However, Lexie’s time was cut short when the drug stopped working. Now Crawford has expressed gratitude for the role and issued an important reminder to fans.

Nikki Crawford Reflects on ‘Days of Our Lives’ Stint

Ahead of her final scene as Lexie, Crawford used Instagram to gush over her experience on the hit Peacock soap. Crawford shared a carousel of photos from her time on the show with her co-stars Deidre Hall (Marlena), Feuerriegel, James Reynolds (Abe), Tyler Joseph Andrews (Theo), and Stacy Haiduk (Kristen/Susan).

The actress kicked off her caption with a thank-you and a note that her time on the show was coming to an end. Crawford let fans know she appreciated them allowing her into their lives before getting honest about playing Lexie.

“Stepping into the shoes of a character who has meant so much to so many people was something I never took lightly. My hope was always to honor Lexie’s history while bringing my own heart and truth to her. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me, rooted for her, laughed with her, cried with her, and taken this journey with me. I’m so grateful for every moment of it. ❤️,” she wrote.

Haiduk popped into the comments to gush over working with Crawford. “The Young and the Restless” star let Crawford know she loved working with her and that she brought a lot to the character of Lexie. Several fans also chimed in to say they wished Lexie and Crawford had stuck around longer.

While the actress was grateful to be part of the “Days of Our Lives” legacy, she also had an honest message for fans. Crawford shared a screenshot of a DM she received in which a fan suggested she get her thyroid checked after noticing something while watching Lexie on the show.

In her caption, Crawford explained that this was something that people in the public eye, especially actors and actresses, dealt with all the time, and she wanted to address it.

“I received this message from someone who watches me on Days of Our Lives. I’m sure they may believe it came from a place of concern, but imagine opening your messages and having a stranger tell you that something looks wrong with your body and that you should have it medically examined. Comments about someone’s face, body, weight, age or appearance don’t suddenly become harmless because that person is on television,” she began her message.

Crawford reminded fans that actors are people, not the characters they are playing on-screen. She shared that words hurt them just like everyone else and can also land in a way the sender didn’t intend. The actress reiterated the pressure in the entertainment industry and revealed that social media access doesn’t mean entitlement.

“You can love a character. You can hate a storyline. You can critique the work. But we should all think twice before making unsolicited judgments about another person’s body or health. Kindness is free. And being on television doesn’t make someone less deserving of it. ❤️,” Crawford ended her note.
