“General Hospital” star Rena Sofer wrapped up her latest run as Lois Cerullo.
In the October 24 episode of the hit ABC soap, Sofer shared a heartfelt farewell scene with her on-screen daughter, Brook Lynn, before leaving Port Charles once again.
This isn’t the first time Sofer parted ways with the show and her character. In 1996, the actress exited the show and went on to work on other projects, including “Seinfeld,” “Friends,” “Just Shoot Me,” and “24.”
In 2013, she returned to daytime TV as Quinn Fuller on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Her stint on the long-running CBS soap lasted until 2022. By 2023, Sofer returned to Port Charles once again.

Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Sofer expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to play Lois. The actress shared that she has always enjoyed portraying the character even after all these years.
“I loved stepping back into Lois’s shoes (and nails!) two years ago, along with the chance to play the amazing story of Gio’s birth and all the secrets Lois was keeping,” the “General Hospital” star added.
“I am eternally grateful to [Executive Producer] Frank Valentini and the writers for letting me reconnect with the talented cast and crew at GH, and for supporting my recent move back to the East Coast with my husband Sandy.”
Sofer also expressed interest in reprising her role if given the chance.
“You never know when Lois will return… Bensonhurst is only a phone call away!”
‘General Hospital’ Fans React to Rena Sofer’s Latest Exit
Meanwhile, fans reacted to Sofer’s latest exit on “General Hospital.” One fan wrote, “Lois is the best thing that happened to ‘GH.’ Will miss her very much.”
Another lamented, “Lois is one of my favorite characters, and Rena became one of my favorite actors. Hopefully, this hiatus will be a short one.”
Someone added, “I always loved Lois. I hope she returns for visits each year. Lois has been a big part of the Quartermaines for so long. I will miss Lois and Rena. I wish her the best.”
Another chimed in, “I will miss Rena Sofer, she is the ONLY Lois! Always thought she was a phenomenal actress! Hurry and come back Lois.”
Rena Sofer made her “General Hospital” debut in 1993 and has remained a fan favorite ever since.
