Fans will recognize Martine McCutcheon from her role as Natalie in the 2003 romantic comedy “Love Actually,” and as Tiffany Raymond on the BBC’s long-running soap opera “EastEnders.” That’s not to mention plenty of other fabulous roles, and her music career.
“Away from the spotlight, however, Martine was apparently grappling with a health issue,” according to the Mirror. “It even impacted her career, leaving her ‘nervous’ she might not appear ‘organised and perfect.'”
ADHD Would Sometimes Leave McCutcheon ‘Completely Thrown’
Getty“Being diagnosed with ADHD four years ago gave me [a] huge sense of relief,” McCutcheon told the i Paper on April 1. “I cried.”
“I think if I’d had known earlier, there would have been some things I could have enjoyed so much more,” she added. “There were so many jobs I was so nervous about not looking organised and perfect for, that I would go overboard.”
Beyond that, she noted, “I have an almost photographic memory. I could look at [a script] and just know it. But then if they gave me a rewrite, I was completely thrown.”
McCutcheon also opened up about what’s in store for her going forward, saying, “Going into my 50th year, I want to have fun. I’ve always had a lot of pressure on my shoulders. I’ve always had so much going on. This will be the decade I will refuse to do anything unless it’s done at my own pace, in my own way, and with ease. I want to live my life with more fun and more ease.”
“I love to meditate. I love to swim in the sea. I want to go skinny-dipping at night,” she continued. “I want to dance until the small hours with friends and music I love. I want to be around great souls and great people. I feel like I’ve done all the groundwork and now the next chapter is for me to truly live it.”
Celebrities Who Have ADHD
GettyMcCutcheon is far from the only celebrity to have ADHD. In fact, People points out that “studies conducted in 2009 and 2018 have estimated that 8.4% of children and 2.5% of adults have the chronic disorder.”
When it comes to famous figures, there are quite a few who have ADHD, per People, including Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, “Magic Mike” actor Channing Tatum and “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig. That’s not to mention Paris Hilton, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Nelly Furtado, Kit Harington, Justin Timberlake, Busy Philipps, Jessie J, Reneé Rapp, Julia Fox, Will.i.am, Michael Phelps, Trevor Noah, Solange Knowles and Tallulah Willis.
