Bring out the celebratory bottles of champagne, balloons, and cake, as The Young and the Restless’ Victor (Eric Braeden) has finally gotten his crown jewel back, Newman Enterprises. After realizing that keeping the company was costing her too much and that Nick (Joshua Morrow) wasn’t going to plead her case to his father, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) signed over the company to its rightful owner.
Don’t cry too much for Ms. Summers, though, as she always tends to find her way back at another influential Genoa City company sooner or later. Heck, perhaps her next gig may even come compliments of Sharon (Sharon Case).
Back to The Mustache. In The Young and the Restless episode airing on June 5, Victor’s in the best mood he’s been in for a while, now that he has his legacy back in his hands. However, he and Nick still have to deal with their dilemma involving Matt (Roger Howarth). With Matt having had amnesia and now gaining his memories back but showing “remorse,” there’s been hesitation with just eliminating him. Plus, he did save Nick’s life when he overdosed. Well, in the episode, Victor pulls a “Victor” and throws a curveball. One that could potentially have dire consequences.
Victor Hires Matt to Go After Cane
CBSVictor decides to keep Matt under close supervision to see if he has indeed reformed from being a pure “villain” intent on getting the Newmans. Then, in the preview for the episodes airing during the week of June 8, Victor and Matt briefly talk about Matt going after Cane (Billy Flynn) on Victor’s behalf.
Let’s not forget, Victor has promised to get revenge on Cane on a few occasions for all that’s happened since the latter reemerged on the canvas. Despite the major role he played in all his losses, Victor blames Cane for temporarily losing Newman and, likely, Victor’s current separation from Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). It’s not yet known what Victor has planned for Cane, but if it involves Matt, it’s probably not good or even legal.
Will Lily Pay the Price for Victor’s Scheming?
CBSThe Newman patriarch may be a ruthless tactician when it comes to plotting, but his schemes don’t always go as planned, as something unpredictable is usually thrown in the mix. In the case of his plot against Cane, Matt is the unpredictable factor. While his memories are returning, and he stresses that he wants to be a better person than he was before, that’s probably easier said than done.
Taking a guess, Victor is going to see the growing closeness between Cane and Lily (Christel Khalil) and want to do everything he can to ruin Cane’s chances for romance. Should he take that approach, it’s easy to see him using Matt to tank the #Lane reunion. If that becomes his new job and Matt has to learn all he can about Cane and Lily, could that evolve into Matt becoming fascinated by Lily? Could Matt then develop an obsession for Lily, much like the one he once had for Sharon? If Matt reverts to old habits, Lily could be in grave danger in the future.
Of course, this is all speculative. In fact, the head writer of The Young and the Restless, Josh Griffith, shared with Soap Opera Digest that there could even be a path of redemption for Matt. But for now, we will all have to keep watching to see what happens next.
