‘Survivor’ Alum Monica Culpepper Breaks Silence on Son’s Passing With Tearful Statement: ‘Our World Stopped’

Monica Culpepper is gently opening up after the heartbreaking loss of her son, Rex Culpepper, sharing her grief with quiet honesty. The “Survivor” alum, 55, posted an emotional message on Instagram on Monday, April 6, reflecting on the moment her family’s world changed forever.

People reported in March that Son of Brad and Monica Culpepper, Rex, died at age 28 after suffering injuries in a dirt bike accident in Georgia.

Family Leans on Support as Grief Feels Overwhelming

“No words. Feeble try…” Monica wrote. “Our world stopped at 5:12 pm on 3/14/26. We are overwhelmed with a gut-wrenching grief, so hard it makes us ill. It’s as if the world is spinning and we are stuck somewhere detached. The nausea is constant. Our worst nightmare won’t end.”

In her message, Monica spoke candidly about the depth of grief her family is navigating while also taking a moment to thank those who have reached out with support.

“It’s hard to move, but things must get done to honor our dear Rexy. I’m writing this to thank you… ALL of YOU,” she continued.

“The love, prayers, cards, texts, calls, meals, flowers, posts, and hugs are felt and matter. The shared stories, music, and videos of Rex’s dynamic interests and talents are uplifting and incredible. It’s deep, it’s messy, it’s organic, it’s beautiful and authentic.”

She added that she is “channeling” what strength she can for her husband, Brad Culpepper, their children, and their extended family, including Rex’s fiancée, Savanna Morgan, and their daughter Honor’s fiancé, Elijah Klein.

Rex Culpepper Remembered After Tragic Accident

Rex tragically died last month at the age of 28 after sustaining injuries in a dirt bike accident in Georgia.

His fiancée, Savanna Morgan, later shared a heartfelt tribute, reflecting on their relationship and the life they built together.

“No one expects to meet the love of your life and lose them in only 6 short years after meeting,” she wrote. “Rex didn’t always believe in soulmates, but towards the end, he told me that he didn’t realize what having a soulmate felt like until we felt like extensions of each other.”

She added,

“And one thing about us is that we lived every single day like it was our last. We did every little thing that we set our minds to, between learning new skills and hobbies, and traveling to new places, there was never any free time with us, and not a moment spent apart. I don’t regret a single day in our 6 years.”

In the days following the news, members of the “Survivor” community came together to support the Culpepper family with heartfelt messages.

“It’s unfathomable. Our hearts break for yours,” Kim Spradlin-Wolfe wrote, while Aubry Bracco shared, “My thoughts have been with you, Brad and family constantly, Monica. Sending you so much love and light. ❤️.”

Beyond his ties to the “Survivor” family, Rex was remembered for his strength and resilience.

He played football at Syracuse University and was diagnosed with testicular cancer during his freshman year.

As per People, after undergoing chemotherapy, he announced in 2018 that he was cancer-free and returned to the field.

As Monica and Brad, who have been married since 1992, continue to navigate this unimaginable loss, their son is being remembered for the life he lived, the challenges he overcame, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
