Taylor Swift has received a new form of recognition: her fanbase’s name has officially entered the dictionary.
Dictionary.com added the word “Swiftie,” defining it under American English as “a fan of the music of Taylor Swift.” The addition reflects the massive global influence of Swift’s fan community.
According to Dictionary.com, new words are evaluated by a team of lexicographers who determine whether a term meets several criteria. A word must be widely used, understood consistently by its users, and likely to remain relevant and useful to a large audience.
Because of that process, the dictionary explains that a word is added only after it is already firmly established in everyday language.
Swift herself formally trademarked the term “Swiftie” in 2017, cementing the nickname for her fanbase.
“Swiftie” joins other well-known fandom terms that have entered the dictionary, including “Beyhive” for Beyoncé fans, “Trekkies” for fans of the “Star Trek” universe, and “Janeite” for admirers of Jane Austen’s work.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Wedding Details Continue to Surface
While Swift celebrates the dictionary recognition of her fans, attention has also turned toward her upcoming wedding to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
Swift and Kelce are engaged and expected to marry later in 2026. Though the couple has not publicly confirmed details about the ceremony, several reports have suggested a possible location and timeframe.
According to Page Six, Swift may have secured a June 2026 wedding date at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.
“Taylor Swift cut a hefty check to snag a bride’s wedding date at a posh Rhode Island venue,” Page Six reported.
Sources told the outlet the ceremony could take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
USA Today travel reporter Allison Tibaldi also described the luxury property, noting that the location offers privacy and scenic views.
“It’s situated on one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, a serene stretch of white sand fringed with dune grass,” Tibaldi wrote.
The Ocean House property includes 46 guest rooms and 23 suites along with private cottages designed to accommodate high-profile guests.
Tibaldi also found what appeared to be confirmation of the rumored date, noting that room rates spike dramatically around the suspected wedding weekend.
“But if you look at June 12-13, 2026, the price jumps to $9,500,” Tibaldi reported. “Moreover, they’re marked as ‘restricted,’ and every time you try booking, it tells you the property is unavailable that particular weekend.”
Travis Kelce Decision on Chiefs Future Still Pending
As wedding speculation grows, Kelce has not yet confirmed whether he will return to the Kansas City Chiefs for the upcoming NFL season.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport recently shared insight into the timeline for Kelce’s decision.
“There has been some discussion about a potential contract,” Rapoport said.
However, Rapoport added that the Chiefs want to ensure Kelce is fully committed before finalizing plans.
“But they want to make sure when there is a decision, he is 1,000% all in,” Rapoport explained.
Kelce has spent his entire NFL career with Kansas City and remains one of the franchise’s most recognizable players.
“What we know is they for sure want him back, especially considering how he played last year,” Rapoport said.
