‘Golden Bachelorette’ Winner Chock Chapple Reveals He Had His Prostate Removed After Cancer Scare

On Tuesday, August 11, “The Golden Bachelorette” season one winner Chock Chapple shared a health update with his followers on Instagram, revealing that a cancer scare led to major surgery.

Sitting beside his fiancée, Joan Vassos, Chapple revealed that he had his prostate removed after a blood test showed his PSA levels were continuing to rise, prompting concern about prostate cancer.

Chock Chapple Opens up About Frightening Cancer Scare

Joan Vassos, the first-ever “The Golden Bachelorette,” found love with Chock Chapple, and the couple has been going strong for nearly two years. They’ve continued to share their lives as an engaged couple with fans on social media, with Chapple recently opening up about his cancer scare and how Vassos has been by his side throughout the scary health journey.

In an Instagram video sitting next to Vassos, Chapple shared, “When I got off the show, had a blood test that was drawn, showed that I had an elevated PSA, and so we monitored for a while; my PSA kept increasing.”

According to Cleveland Clinic, “A PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test is a blood test that helps healthcare providers diagnose and manage prostate cancer.”

Chapple continued, “Long story short, a biopsy, MRI, and then another biopsy, and it turned aggressive. So last Wednesday, had my prostate removed and made the decision just to go ahead and have it removed.”

The “Golden Bachelorette” winner detailed that cancer runs in his family, sharing that he had lost his mother to cancer. He also noted that he ultimately decided to undergo the major surgery after Vassos heard Chapple’s son say, “How much time do you want to spend with your grandkids?”

Speaking of his recovery, Chapple shared that it “has been a little rough,” but was happy to have Vassos by his side. “Joan’s been here taking care of me, cooking and now I have the cleanest refrigerator in the world,” he joked.

Vassos then shared that Chapple had been “brave” throughout the whole ordeal. “I’m glad he made the decision that he made; I want to keep him around for the rest of my life.”

The couple also shared that with the good news, they will be going away to Europe together at the end of August.
