“The Bachelorette” star Joe Amabile first revealed in early July that doctors had discovered “a blueberry-sized lesion” in his brain, which was later identified as an early-stage tumor.
Since then, he and his wife, Serena Pitt, have kept fans updated on his journey on social media, including his plans to undergo a craniotomy, and even getting a buzz cut as he prepared for the major surgery.
On Thursday, August 6, Amabile shared photos from the hospital bed after what appeared to be a successful surgery.
Joe Amabile Posts Hospital Bed Photos Following Successful Brain Tumor Surgery
Friends, family, and fans of Joe Amabile have been anxiously awaiting updates after the former “Bachelor in Paradise” star underwent surgery to remove a tumor in his brain.
On Thursday, August 6, Amabile took to Instagram to reveal that the surgery was a success, sharing photos from his hospital bed in New York City that showed him recovering with bandages wrapped around his head.
“They got it all!” Amabile captioned his post.
Another photo in Amabile’s carousel featured his wife, Serena Pitt, holding his hand as he recovered in his hospital bed. The former “The Bachelorette” contestant also shared a photo of himself giving the peace sign while sitting in a chair in pajamas, along with a glimpse of a delicious treat he enjoyed after surgery.
Pitt also shared the joyous news. In an Instagram Story, she shared the photo holding her husband’s hand and commented over it with, “The best update: they were able to remove the entire tumor and Joe is recovering really well. We’re feeling so grateful.”
Amabile first shared in an Instagram post on Monday, July 13, that doctors discovered an early-stage brain tumor after the reality star underwent a whole-body MRI with Prenuvo. Although he was scheduled to have a craniotomy in two weeks following his diagnosis, it was later delayed another week.
At the time, Amabile shared that the “waiting game” had been “tough” on him.
“The waiting game has been, its been tough; it’s been tricky because, like, on one hand I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s get this over,’ on the other hand I’m telling myself, ‘ Why are you rushing to have brain surgery type of thing,” he shared in a video.
Just a day before his major surgery, Amabile said that he felt “good” and was going in with a “positive mindset.” He also thanked his followers for all their encouraging words.
“Surgery is tomorrow. It’s felt like forever but we are finally there. A big thank you to everyone for the love and support ♥️,” he shared.
