Bachelor Nation fans often expect a runner-up on “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette” to step into the lead role in a future season, but that wasn’t the case for Tyler Cameron. The Jupiter, Florida resident, who finished in second place on Hannah Brown’s season 15, has been approached multiple times about becoming “The Bachelor,” offers he ultimately turned down.
In a recent interview, Cameron opened up about saying no to becoming the show’s lead and why it eventually worked out for him in the long run.
Tyler Cameron Shares Valid Reason Why He Was Never Cast as a Lead on ‘The Bachelor’
GettyTyler Cameron explained why he was never cast as a lead on “The Bachelor,” despite fans loving the idea since they first met him on Hannah Brown’s season of “The Bachelorette.”
During an interview with E!’s “Hot Goss,” Eyal Booker asked Cameron, โYou were asked to be on โThe Bachelorโ as the Bachelor several times, from my understanding, why did you say no or not do it?โ
The reality TV star responded honestly, stating, โI never felt like I was mature enough for it or in the right space mentally.” Cameron also detailed that most of the time he was asked to be part of the show, he was dating someone. “So thatโs probably not a good time to do that,” he added.
Still, the “Bachelor Mansion Takeover” judge called it “an incredible honor” that fans wanted to see him as a lead. However, Cameron has since found a special woman outside the show, dating girlfriend Tate Madden, which he confirmed in September 2024. “Luckily, I found love without it,” he shared.
Fans Can Expect Cameron to Propose to Tate Madden ‘Soon’
GettyWedding bells might be in the near future for Cameron and Madden. While answering fan questions on their “Under Construction with Tate and Tyler” YouTube series in March, the reality star admitted that he plans to pop the question “soon.”
As they chatted about ring shopping, Madden told Cameron that she’s happy with anything, revealing, “I will love anything. You could get me a ring pop at this point, and Iโd be fired up.”
In fact, Madden also expressed her desire to speed up their future wedding so that the couple could focus on starting a family. “I’d be fired up because I just really want to have babies, and he wants like a million, and I would really like to be married first,” she said.
In another YouTube video, Cameron even laid out his five-year plan with Madden. “[In] the next five years, we are married … We have a three-year-old, and a two-year-old, and a one-year-old. No, maybe a three[-year-old] and a one-year-old. Maybe a three[-year-old] and a one-and-a-half-year-old, you know?” He confessed.
He also shared his desire to build their futures together in Jupiter, Florida, where he was raised.
