Five years after a viral moment on “The Talk” prompted Sharon Osbourne’s exit from the daytime series, Sheryl Underwood opened up about their relationship during an appearance on “The View.”
Underwood is sitting in as a panelist while permanent “View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin is on maternity leave. She addressed her relationship with Osbourne, with whom she worked for a decade on the now-defunct CBS talk series.
What did Sheryl Underwood Say About Her Relationship With Sharon Osbourne Today?
On the March 11 episode of “The View,” Sheryl Underwood revealed that after the death of Sharon Osbourne’s husband, Ozzy Osbourne, in July 2025, she reached out with her condolences.
In a Facebook clip, Underwood told fellow panelists Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Haines, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin, “I will say this, I still believe there’s some love between me and Sharon Osbourne. I tried to reach out when Ozzy passed.”
“I love her. I’m going to be honest with you, you don’t sit next to somebody for that amount of time and don’t have no love,” Underwood continued.
“The reason people say, ‘Well, Sheryl, when [the fight] happened, why didn’t you reach out?’ I’m afraid to leave a voicemail,” she continued. “Because in the business we’re in, your voicemail will show up somewhere or be misunderstood.”
However, she would love the opportunity to sit down face-to-face with her former colleague and friend and talk things through. “I haven’t done everything right, but if somebody could pull us together. Howard Stern, pull us together. Ya’ll, pull us together.”
What Happened Between Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne on ‘The Talk?’
In 2021, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood got into a heated exchange on “The Talk” over Piers Morgan’s commentary about Meghan Markle. Osbourne and Morgan were longtime friends.
Sunny Hostin broke down the event, which occurred five years prior, to viewers of “The View.” She explained, “It started because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did an Oprah Winfrey interview, and the Duchess said [she] experienced racism at the hands of the royal family.”
Hostin continued, “And Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne’s friend, really went into it, defending the Royal Family and saying that was not racism. I think, at that point, Sharon Osbourne got involved and defended Piers Morgan and said there wasn’t racism.”
GettyDuring the conflict, Osbourne said, per a PEOPLE story, “Did I like everything he said? Did I agree with what he said? No. Because it’s his opinion. It’s not my opinion. I support him for his freedom of speech, and he’s my friend.”
Underwood told “The View,” “I sat next to her for years, and I do believe that when she’s hurt, she’s really hurt. That day, I didn’t argue and cuss back and forth because we represent women. And if they see us fighting each other, they will never see that women can come together.”
In a 2022 interview with Piers Morgan, Osbourne admitted the firing caused her to “cry for three months. I never thought in my wildest dreams that my career, after 50 years, would have ended that way.”
CBS said in a statement, per PEOPLE, “The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”
