Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are headed on an adventure down the Yellow Brick Road.
Deadline reports that the two are involved in Prime Video’s project, “Dorothy.” While it hasn’t been revealed if they are a part of the cast, the outlet notes that they are non-writing executive producers for the project. The project will be produced by Gina Matthews, who also produced the hit movie, “13 Going on 30.”
“I’ve been in love with ‘The Wizard of Oz’ books since I was a child,” Matthews told Deadline. “The story reminds us of the qualities we need to get through hard times, and Dorothy is a symbol of strength who shows us that with a little kindness — and a lot of grit — we can not only achieve great things but also lift up those around us. I’m excited to bring that message to the world, now more than ever.”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Are ‘Excited’ About This ‘Wizard of Oz’ Remake
Shelton and Stefani also spoke about the project.
“We’re really excited about all the possibilities this show brings, and I’m so grateful that Gina shared the idea with me and Lee,” the country artist said according to Deadline. “I knew right away it was something Gwen would connect with. Her creativity and perspective are such a natural fit for this project.”
“It’s a creative and modern take on a classic, and being part of something that blends music, emotion, and the character of Dorothy is inspiring to me,” Stefani added.
‘The Wizard of Oz’ Takes Over The Las Vegas Sphere
The Las Vegas Sphere is offering an incredible show, with the hit movie, “The Wizard of Oz,” being shown inside this top attraction.
According to the New York Times, the project to “modernize” this movie cost an estimated $80 million, with an estimated 200,000 tickets expected to have been sold on opening night. And it’s an immersive experience, as fans are blasted by high-horsepower fans with confetti flying around during the tornado scene. Monkeys also fly through space, but the New York Times details that “they’re really helium-filled balloons steered by drone operators.
The Hollywood Reporter detailed a few more special effects. “Venue’s chairs jolt and shake whenever the Wicked Witch makes an appearance, toy apples fall from the sky when Dorothy fights with a talking tree and bubbles float down when Glinda uses her powers to cause a snowstorm. Columns of fire shoot into the air with the arrival of the Wizard,” they explained.
