Why Kelly Clarkson Broke Down in Tears on ‘The Voice’ Amid Powerful Episode This Past Week

Kelly Clarkson was feeling the music on “The Voice” this past week, breaking down in tears over one singer’s powerful voice. See what Clarkson said about why she was moved to tears.

Kelly Clarkson Gets Emotional During ‘The Voice’ Performance

The format for season 29 of “The Voice” is called “Battle of Champions,” with winners and finalists coming back from past seasons to compete.

Clarkson, who serves as a coach this season, was particularly moved by “Voice” alum Jake Hoot’s performance of “Desperado” by the Eagles during the All-Star Showdown on April 6.

Hoot won “The Voice” season 17 in 2019 and returned this season on Clarkson’s team.

As he wrapped up the song, Clarkson was heard saying, “You better sing!” and jumped to her feet before he sang the ending. Afterwards, she explained how moving the performance was for her.

“I think you are not only one of the best country singers that’s ever been on the show, but I also think you’re a true gentleman, and that’s rare,” she told him.

Clarkson continued, “That part that you did at the end broke me, which is why I’m tearing up. That little falsetto, man, that move … it’s not just a cool move to do, it’s sincere.”

“And it’s why I love music, and it’s why I love all these artists in this room,” she added. “And we’re so lucky.”

Fans Loved Jake Hoot’s Performance

Fans flooded the comments section of “The Voice” Instagram post of Hoot’s performance.

“This is insanely great ❤️ he is one of the best country singers in my eyes 🤠🔥👏,” one fan wrote.

Another fan noted, “Jake had such a Garth Brooks quality to his voice and delivery of the lyrics. Such a beautiful rendition of this song.”

Others commented, “Wow. That was amazing,” “My man, his country voice is purely divine,” “He is INCREDIBLE,” and “The best country winner of ‘The Voice.'”

“Team Kelly,” another fan noted. “So good, I cried too.”

“OMgosh 🙌👏👏!! Love his version of an already awesome song,” another fan raved.

On April 4, “The Voice” shared a throwback video of “Jake Hoot’s performance that started it all,” when he sang Luke Combs’ “When It Rains It Pours.”

“Throwback to the moment Jake Hoot stopped the room with his blind audition,” the caption noted.

“One of Kelly’s best wins! Love Hoot!” one fan commented.

Another fan gushed, “Winner from the first note! We adore you Jake!”
