Michael Bublé Wears Hilarious Costume for Charity & Says He’s ‘Slowly Losing Control’ of His Career

Michael Bublé is proving once again that he’s more than willing to laugh at himself for a good cause. And we’re kind of obsessed with the level of commitment here.

The “The Voice” coach took to Instagram on Friday, May 8, 2026 to share clips from his appearance at Seth Rogen’s “Hilarity For Charity” comedy special, “Seth Goes Greek,” where he ended up dressed as a giant QR code. Yep, you read that right.

And while some celebrities would probably try to play it cool after wearing what essentially looks like a walking tech support square on stage, Bublé fully leaned into the chaos.

I had the pleasure of joining @sethrogen on stage at his ‘Hilarity For Charity’ comedy special,” Bublé wrote in the caption.

Yes, I was dressed like a massive QR Code. Yes, Seth made me sing the soundtrack to “Cheers” and yes, I continue to slowly lose control of my career,” he explained.

Honestly, his self-awareness alone makes this ten times funnier. Yet, underneath all the jokes and papercut complaints, there was something genuinely meaningful behind the appearance.

BUT, we raised money to support families affected by Alzheimer’s,” Bublé continued. “and that made all of the papercuts more than worth it.”

Michael Bublé Fully Commits to the Bit

It seems like Bublé understood the assignment the second he agreed to appear at the event. Clips shared online showed him fully embracing the ridiculousness of the moment while Seth Rogen jokingly ordered him to sing.

The official Netflix Is A Joke festival account even posted footage from the special (seen below) alongside the caption, “STFU Bublé and sing! #NetflixisaJokeFest.”

Bublé has always had a playful side online, but this might be one of his funniest appearances yet. There’s just something deeply amusing about seeing a Grammy-winning singer standing on stage dressed like an oversized QR code while belting out the “Cheers” theme song.

And somehow? He still managed to make it charming.

And let’s be real, seeing Michael Bublé dressed like a giant QR code while singing a classic TV theme song is exactly the kind of chaotic celebrity content the internet loves.

Fans Loved the QR Code Costume

It didn’t take long for fans to flood the comments section on Bublé’s post after he shared the moment online. And honestly, it seems like the giant QR code costume instantly became a fan favorite.

The official “Hilarity For Charity” Instagram account even commented, “The best QR code ever!! 🧡”

Many fans praised Bublé for being willing to laugh at himself while supporting an important cause. One follower wrote, “That’s why we ALL love you sooo much! Because you have a BIG heart and great sense of humor ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

Others fully committed to the joke itself. “new band uniform for next tour let’s gooooo,” one fan joked, while another added, “MB, Cutest QR code i ever did see ❤️”

And beyond the laughs, plenty of fans highlighted the charitable side of the appearance too. “I believe you did great! 👏👏👏👏 Helping is your great virtue. Don’t stop. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” one commenter shared.

The Event Supported Families Affected by Alzheimer’s

While the clips are definitely getting attention for the comedy factor, the heart of the event was raising money for families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Hilarity For Charity” was co-founded by Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen, inspired by Lauren’s family’s personal experience with Alzheimer’s. The organization focuses on support resources, education, and funding research efforts.

So while Bublé joking about “losing control” of his career may have stolen the spotlight for a bit, the appearance itself was rooted in something genuinely meaningful.

The special also took place during the ongoing “Netflix Is A Joke” festival. According to Tudum, the event runs through May 10, 2026 and includes performances across 35 venues throughout Los Angeles.

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix Vice President of Comedy Series, also explained the festival’s overall mission, saying:

“What makes this fest so special is the sense of community — it’s a rare moment where the comedy industry and the fans come together in one place. We’re not just putting on shows; we’re creating one-of-a-kind experiences that celebrate the range, depth, and sheer brilliance of the comedy world right now.”

And that spirit really does come through in moments like this.

Because yes, seeing Michael Bublé dressed like a QR code is objectively hilarious. But seeing celebrities use their platforms to support meaningful causes while making people laugh along the way? That’s the kind of energy we all (fans included) genuinely love to see.
