Reba McEntire Gets Emotional During Heartfelt ‘The Voice’ Performance

* WARNING: This post could contain spoilers for anyone who has not watched “The Voice” Season 28, Episode 10, “The Battles, Part 4 and the Knockouts Premiere.”

Sometimes a performance hits a little too close to home; and that’s exactly what happened during “The Voice” episode tonight (October 27, 2025). Team Reba’s Aubrey Nicole took the stage with a powerful rendition of Martina McBride’s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” dedicating the song to her dad, a cancer survivor.

Reba Opens Up After Aubrey Nicole’s Performance

From the first verse, it was clear this wasn’t just another knockout song. Nicole’s voice carried that kind of emotional weight that stops everyone in their tracks; and when the music wrapped, the entire room was silent. That’s when Reba McEntire visibly took a deep breath, clearly moved, before finding her words.

“I do know this song. Martina’s a good friend of mine… I lost my oldest son, because he did not win with cancer. So that was a real reminder that life goes on, and we sing songs about it, so we can remember the ones that are around us that we love so much and that we lean on at times like this.”

Fellow coach Snoop Dogg even handed her a tissue at one point, as the moment’s heaviness became impossible to ignore. Reba was referring to her stepson, Brandon Blackstock, from her marriage to Narvel Blackstock. Brandon, who was previously married to singer Kelly Clarkson and shared two children with her, passed away back in August after privately battling cancer for a few years.

It was an honest, heartbreaking moment… and one that showed just how deeply Reba connects to the music and the stories behind it.

Snoop’s Lighthearted Save & the Power of Country Music

After the touching exchange, Snoop managed to lift the mood with a bit of his signature humor, saying, “Reba, I need my tissue back.” It got a quick laugh from the audience and even from Reba, who smiled through her tears. The moment reminded everyone that even on an emotional night, “The Voice” still finds ways to bring lightness and love.

Reba even reflected between performances, saying, “This is supposed to be a fun show, I know. But boy, that’s what country music does, it just brings out all the emotions and the stories, and it’ll grab you.”

That’s the magic of country music; and honestly, of Reba herself. She’s built her career on authenticity, storytelling, and heart. And on that stage, she reminded everyone that music isn’t just about pitch or performance… it’s about connection.

What This Moment Means for Team Reba’s Future

It seems like Nicole’s performance wasn’t just a turning point in the competition, but a healing moment for Reba, too. It showed her team (and the rest of us watching at home) that vulnerability isn’t weakness; it’s where the real power lives.

Moments like this are why fans keep tuning in week after week. Because when a contestant’s story hits home for a legend like Reba McEntire, it’s not just a powerful moment… it’s something unforgettable.

And bonus: Aubrey Nicole made it through this round of competition.
