Season 28 of “The Voice” is well underway, with coaches Snoop Dogg, Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, and Niall Horan narrowing down their teams from 12 to 8 during the Battle rounds.
But beginning the week of October 20, 2025, the show’s schedule is changing drastically, with the amount of airtime each week cut in half, due to NBA games appearing on NBC for the first time in two decades. Here’s what you need to know…
‘The Voice’ Will Only Air on Monday Nights for a While
As usual, a two-hour episode of “The Voice” will air on Monday, October 20. But that’s it for the week, as a double-header is scheduled the next night on NBC. That means there will be no recap episodes on Tuesdays going forward. In fact, the next time “The Voice” airs on a Tuesday won’t be until December, per NBC Insider.
In May, Deadline reported that “The Voice” schedule will shrink further in November, as the Monday night shows get squeezed down to be one-hour episodes starting at 9 p.m. Eastern time. The outlet said new sitcoms will air beforehand, including the second season of McEntire’s “Happy’s Place.”
NBC exec Pearlena Igbokw told Deadline that the network had to get creative to make room for the NBA, canceling five series and juggling the schedules of others, noting, “We had a lot of shows that we had to pass on in order to put our schedule together. We are losing seven hours of our prime time schedule over the course of the season to the NBA.”
What to Expect on ‘The Voice’ in Future Weeks, Including Changes to the Knockouts
NBC“The Voice” has aired two of its four Battle rounds episodes, so by the end of October, each coach will have narrowed their teams down to just six artists.
Then, according to NBC Insider, the next five Mondays will be dedicated to the Knockouts, when artists get to choose their own songs as they go head-to-head against another member of their team. Coaches will choose one winner out of each pair, but in another big change for season 28, there are no Steals. In the end, each coach’s team will be narrowed down to four.
In another new twist for the Knockouts, per NBC Insider, each coach will get to award a “Mic Drop” for one artist on their team who “truly impresses them.” Once each coach has chosen their “Mic Drop” recipient, viewers will vote on which of the four singers will get to perform during the Rose Parade on January 1, 2026.
After the Knockouts, there will be two Playoffs episodes and then it’s on to the live finale shows on December 15 and 16.

Very unfair will loose a lot of followers!!!!!!!
Indeed!!!!!
I agree. Shorter season, therefore, less chances for each contestant to perform.
No reason get upset about the changes. They could take it off the air if they want to,and there is nothing you could do. Just be happy they are still on,and you can still watch it,
If it was up to me you know what they can do with the NBA!! Put it on a channel that’s not popular!!
I don’t think Manny should have gone home, I love his voice! I really wanted to hear more from him! Judges y’all should have kept him! 😣
I wish the voice would have priority over NBA. But I will still look forward to seeing the Voice!
Who cares about the NBA? This is rediculous!
Just give us a schedule with dates and times we can print and follow and not be limited to the locating the schedule each week.
Dont want to watch the CHEATING STEALING NBA.
