Snoop Dogg won’t be ringing in 2026 with his own show as previously planned, but the legendary rapper and coach on “The Voice” insists he’s cool with it.
On November 5, 2025, Deadline reported that “Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve” special, which NBC first announced in September, has been scrapped. In a statement, Snoop, 54, urged his fans not to worry, citing scheduling issues as the reason for the major change.
Snoop Dogg Promises Fans They’ll ‘Party Bigger & Better’ Later in 2026
NBCSnoop’s two-hour New Year’s Eve show was announced in May, according to the Daily Mail. The outlet said NBC planned to air it live from Miami and that it was billed as a “once-in-a-lifetime New Year’s Eve event,” complete with “showstopping performances all night long” and appearances by “some of the biggest stars.”
In a statement to Deadline about the show’s cancellation, Snoop said, “Sometimes the calendar gets in the way of the celebration, which is why my NBC family and I decided this winter was time for us all to focus on the Olympics. But don’t worry, we’ll party together bigger and better later in 2026. Ya dig.”
It’s not clear if NBC plans to find another host and still run a New Year’s special to compete with ABC’s countdown with Ryan Seacrest, CBS’ country-themed show in Nashville, and CNN’s special with Anderson Cooper and Bravo’s Andy Cohen.
Snoop Dogg is Expected to Keep Working Closely With NBC
GettyThough Snoop’s New Year’s plans may be canceled, he’s expected to keep working closely with NBC. NBCUniversal announced in April 2025 that it had signed a major deal with Snoop, which included his return to “The Voice” as a Season 28 coach.
According to the Hollywood Reporter (THR), the deal he signed with the network includes projects with his Death Row Pictures, which is already working with NBC on a biopic about himself, written by Joe Robert Cole and produced by Brian Grazer.
Snoop will also be heavily involved in NBC’s Olympic coverage throughout the games, which run from February 6 – 22. The rapper’s quirky commentary was so popular during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, he will team up again with NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico, providing primetime viewers in the U.S. with “his wintry take on what’s happening in northern Italy,” per NBC Sports.
When NBC first announced its partnership with Snoop, NBCUniversal chairman Donna Langley said in a statement, “There’s only one Snoop, and we’re so excited for him to join our unbelievable roster of creative partners.”

I don’t blame Snoop, why get upset when you have other projects happening. Keep it up Snoop!
