The Johnstons are in mourning after the news broke that Mary Alice Maddox Johnston, affectionately known as “Nana,” mother of “7 Little Johnstons” patriarch Trent Johnston, has passed away.
Her death has deeply impacted the family and fans alike, prompting an outpouring of love and sympathy across social media.
Emma Johnston shared a video of herself with her grandmother as she painted her nails. She played the song “loml” by Taylor Swift during the sweet moment.
“Our nana is in heaven with poppy watching over all of us 🕊️ (we love you and I miss you sm),” she added.
Trent, who often shares personal insights with viewers, confirmed the heartbreaking news and acknowledged the profound loss his family is experiencing.
His account, which he shares with his wife Amber, posted a simple image of his mom with a white heart emoji.
As the matriarch, Nana held an important place in the family’s life and was beloved by many who followed their journey on screen.

Fans and fellow cast members have already begun to share condolences.
Many recalled her warm presence behind the scenes and praised the strength she offered the family over the years.
“So sorry for your loss! Sending my hugs to you and family!” one user wrote.
Another added, “So very sorry. May her memories comfort you and all her knew and loved her.”
A different user noted how heartwarming the video that Emma posted was.

Prior to Nana’s passing, Trent’s father Walter “Pete” Lawrence Johnston, aka “Poppy” passed away on March 10, 2024.
‘7 Little Johnstons’ New Season Starts in October
The new season of “7 Little Johnstons” is slated to start on October 14. TLC released the trailer for the upcoming show in September, and Nana was featured in one of the clips.
Anna, one of Trent and Amber’s children, was telling her grandmother about her boyfriend.
Nana asked Anna, “How long have you and Darius been an item?” Anna revealed at the time the two have been together for eight months.
TLC’s press release revealed what to expect in the new season.
“The Johnston family is stepping into uncharted territory as the kids grow into adulthood and life brings new challenges and joys for everyone,” it said.
