When you’ve been acting on a show for more than a decade, you’re bound to have a long list of favorite scenes and storylines. Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary Coulter on Hallmark‘s “When Calls the Heart,” is no exception.
Thanks to her endearing quirks and fiery personality, Rosemary is not only a beloved character to watch but also a favorite role for Hutton. In a recent interview, she discussed some of her favorite Rosemary quotes. She also hinted at an upcoming scene for Hearties to keep an eye out for.
An Easter Egg You Can’t Miss: Hutton Hints at Unforgettable Background Scene
In a preview of the upcoming Episode 8, we see an excited Rosemary getting everyone in Hope Valley involved in making a silent film. While Rosemary serves as director, everyone in town is either in front of the camera or behind the scenes. Hutton revealed to Stephanie on the “Heart in Motion Podcast” that one of her favorite scenes is hidden in the episode.
“I just watched the episode last night, and I was dying laughing, watching us in the background,” Hutton said. “It fills me with so much joy.”
“I was like, ‘Are we being distracting?” Hutton continued. “And I’m like, ‘we’re really dancing on the edge right there,” she continued. “But I think it was subdued enough that it barely skated by. But oh my gosh, so funny, so funny.”
She recalled telling Ben Rosenbaum afterwards that it was “the most fun I’ve ever had on this show.” Curious fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for an innocent background scene featuring Hutton, Rosenbaum, and Hrothgar Mathews.
Hutton Explains Key Character Quirk She Championed for New ‘When Calls the Heart’ Writers
Season 13 of “When Calls the Heart” features new writers and a new showrunner, Joy Gregory. Hutton recalled that she met with the new team to better explain their characters and the couple’s dynamic.
“Rosemary and Lee (Kavan Smith), they’re kind of known for their zany antics and their humor,” the “Notes of Autumn” star explained. “And we love that, obviously, that feels like that’s the backbone. We have loved when it’s been juxtaposed with the more heartfelt, vulnerable moments. And we feel like you kind of earn those when you have a very kind of comedic couple or characters.”
“It just makes those moments that much more poignant because they’re rare, and they feel really raw and vulnerable,” she added. However, there was also a specific line from Rosemary’s that she wanted the writers to know was important.
“Rosemary will say, ‘It’s as I always say,’ and then it’ll be something we’ve never heard her say before,” Hutton revealed. “And it’s maybe even something that doesn’t totally make a lot of sense. I’ve always thought that was the funniest quirk about Rosemary’s character.”
