David and Victoria Beckham are the parents of four children, three of whom have reached adulthood. Though the family admits they aren’t perfect, they’ve always wanted to do the right thing for their children.
As the estrangement from Brooklyn Beckham continues, Victoria Beckham is opening up about the only goals that she ever had for her children. She didn’t necessarily want them to pursue fame. She simply wanted them to find their true passions in life.
David & Victoria Beckham Want Their Children to Pursue Their Own Passions
Together, power couple David and Victoria Beckham are the parents of four children: Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14. Their estrangement from Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, has made headlines in recent years.
Even though parenting adult children has had its share of obstacles, the Beckhams feel tremendously proud of their children and their accomplishments. In a new interview, Victoria Beckham opened up about how she and her husband support the children as they pursue their dreams.
“There’s a big difference between supporting children with what they want to do and forcing them,” the 90s pop star recently told The Times. “All we’ve ever done with any of the children is support them, help them and encourage them.”
Beckham added that she’s proud of each of her children’s unique interests. PEOPLE reports that Brooklyn is growing his culinary brand and even launched his own hot sauce label, Cloud 23. Romeo models while Cruz has his own band, Cruz Beckham and The Breakers.
But at one point, they all wanted to be football stars just like their famous father.
“The three boys used to play football and one by one they decided it wasn’t for them. And that’s okay, whatever makes them happy,” Victoria Beckham told The Times. “I just want them to feel fulfilled.”
During an appearance on “Aspire” with Emma Grede, Victoria Beckham elaborated on her parenting style.
“I think that it’s very different parenting adult children to parenting smaller children,” the mother of four confessed. “I’m just trying to do the best that I can.”
The Former Spice Girls Member Admits To Struggling With Self-Worth
Despite Victoria Beckham’s overwhelming success, the 52-year-old admits she still struggles with self-worth issues from time to time.
“I’ve spent my whole life feeling that I’m not good enough,” she bravely told The Times.
She admitted that many of her insecurities involve her appearance. But as she ages, Victoria Beckham describes developing a thicker skin and caring less about what others think. Turning 50 helped her realize that she never has to give up on her appearance of being confident in her skin.
“That doesn’t mean you have to compromise. You can still look good,” Beckham told the outlet. She also noted that her workout regimen has changed. At 52, she exercises more now than she ever did in her 20s or 30s.
“Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you’re limited in what you can do. You can achieve great things as you get older,” the entrepreneur proudly shared.
