Kehlani is one of the brightest stars in R&B, with her self-titled fifth album having been released in April 2026, debuting at number one on the Billboard R&B album chart. However, the “Folded” singer, who is currently headlining a tour, was recently forced to cancel multiple concert dates due to illness that left her unable to swallow.
Kehlani took to social media on August 26 not only to open up about her health but also to announce that she’d have to cancel two upcoming concert dates, including her shows in Camden and DC. The songstress said, “After two off days feeling completely normal, I’ve been up all night unable to swallow & in so much pain. I just left the hospital & am not cleared to sing for the next two shows. I’m so sorry.”
She continued, “Camden & DC. My team is working on a solution. Breaks my heart to have to ever do this. I do everything I’m supposed to to ensure my health stays up to par & it still isn’t guaranteed. We will pick back up in Virginia.”
Kehlani Announced the Tour In May
GettyIn support of her self-titled album, Kehlani announced her world tour in May 2026. Per Live Nation, the 33-date North American leg of the tour kicked off in Minneapolis, MN, at The Armory on August 6. It will include stops in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Boston, San Francisco, and Dallas, Atlanta, before concluding in San Fransico in October.
Recently, the Grammy-winning singer spoke to Billboard about preparing for the tour and revealed she’d recently had an operation. She said, “I just had a sinus surgery from hell because I haven’t been able to breathe for seven years. Turns out my nasal canals were blocked. I’m still healing.”
Kehlani continued, “But this will be my first tour using my breath to my full capacity. I’m really excited to be able to breathe because I’ve been onstage huffing and huffing. But other than that, it’s really again about being disciplined with my routine. You know when your voice is going. I know when I need to calm it down, when it’s time to go to bed early.”
The ‘Folded’ Singer Recently Opened Up About Her Mental Health
GettyKehlani first revealed she’d been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder as well as Bipolar Disorder in 2025. After that, in April 2026, she spoke to Vibe, saying, “When you finally have the tools, you have the diagnosis. But along with the diagnosis comes the work.”
She continued, “So upon getting diagnosed, I got medicated and [did] different forms of therapy [like] somatic healing, but I also gained this tool belt of awareness. I’m starting to recognize my symptoms and triggers. I’m starting to learn what kind of life I have to lead as a person whose mind is different.”
From there, she discussed how she spoke to the people in her life about noticing signs of possible distress. Kehlani gave examples, saying, “Hey, if you see these signs [of] I’m not sleeping, I’m not eating, I’m talking really fast. All of a sudden, I want to pick up 17 new hobbies, and I might dye my hair pink, maybe call me in and tell me I’m tripping. Call my psychiatrist. I’m in crisis.”
