Music Legend Set to Release Final Album with A-List Collaborators

Dionne Warwick is a living legend in the music industry thanks to hits such as “Walk on By,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” and “Don’t Make Me Over.” Now, at 85, the beloved songstress is set to release a brand new album, “DWuets,” featuring several modern-day hitmakers. This comes ahead of production on her much-talked-about biopic featuring singer and actress Teyana Taylor.

Warwick released her previous album, “She’s Back,” in 2019. Her son, Grammy Award-winning producer Damon Elliott, served as the project’s producer.

According to Billboard, Warwick is in the process of recording her final album, “DWuets.” Now, ahead of its release, the first single, “Ocean in the Desert,” will be released on March 30. Notably, the single features Grammy Award winner Cynthia Erivo. Diane Warren wrote the song, as she did the rest of the forthcoming album. Warwick’s son, Elliott, returned to produce.

Billboard also learned that R&B songstress Kehlani will be featured on the second single from “DWuets.” The album title and the other duet partners will be revealed closer to its release.

Warwick also issued a statement on working with Erivo. She said, “It was such a joy to be in the studio harmonizing with such a talented entertainer as Cynthia. We immediately bonded and had so much fun recording this beautiful song.”

The “Wicked” star also spoke highly of recording with Warwick. According to her, “It was so warm being in the studio with Dionne; it was like a mother-daughter relationship. This experience was like the godmother of music coming in and saying to me, ‘I knight you.'”

Elliott also discussed watching his mother record with so many different artists for the new album. He said in the press release, “The experience of watching all of these young legends working with a real living legend was a thrill to watch. Mom picked the lock for them, and they paid respect to one of the greatest artists ever.”

There’s A Movie About Her Life In The Works

A movie about Warwick’s life has been in discussion for several years, with Taylor set to play the music legend since 2024. It was then that the singer and actress took to Instagram to share a post from Warwick’s son confirming that the movie had been funded.

Taylor said in the caption of the post, “Ms. Dionne Warwick… A woman of great stature, poise, and elegance, with a fiery spirit — Realizing I was looking at my future self. My reflection without a mirror. Thank you for trusting me, @coco_gilbert And our production company @theauntiesinc with telling your iconic story! We are so excited to make you proud!”

More recently, in February 2025, Taylor gave an update on the Warwick biopic to PEOPLE. She told the outlet, “We have everything kind of set in stone and everything together. It was a little slowdown, of course, with the unfortunate things that have taken place. But everything is so up and running.

It’s still going, and Ms. Dionne has so much career. So even trying to consolidate… I just want it to be perfect. I want this to be perfect, and I want to sell her story, and I just want everything to be perfect.”

It’s unclear when filming will begin.
