“Beverly Hills, 90210” star Jennie Garth revealed she sustained two injuries on the set of the beloved 1990s series that have caused lasting damage.

GettyThe “What I Like About You” actress opened up about suffering from “clinical depression” since she was 18 years old.
“I’ve been under a doctor’s care ever since. I’ve been on some form of antidepressant meds for most of my adult life,” Garth shared in her upcoming memoir, “I Choose Me: Chasing Joy, Finding Purpose, and Embracing Reinvention,” according to People.
Garth underwent a SPECT scan — which the Mayo Clinic describes as “a type of imaging test that uses a radioactive substance and a special camera to create 3D pictures” — which called into question two past head injuries.
“I thought about it and there were two times that I could recall as major head-related accidents: the time Luke [Perry] ran me over with a jet ski in the Pacific Ocean while filming a scene together, and the time a huge tripod-mounted light fell directly on my head and knocked me over on the set of ‘90210’. Accidents happen on sets; there wasn’t any wrongdoing. But still, maybe they’d had some effect on me,” Garth recalled in her book.
Garth starred as Kelly Taylor alongside stars Tori Spelling, Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestley, Luke Perry and Ian Ziering, for 10 seasons. The iconic series ran from 1990 to 2000.
Jennie Garth Details On Set Injury
Garth previously revealed details of the terrifying jet ski accident on the set of the beloved teen drama.
“One time I was doing a scene with Luke in his car and I don’t know, he was being sassy or being mean to me, like brotherly mean, and I was spraying Binaca in my mouth. And something just came over me, and I turned it around and sprayed it in his eye,” she recalled during a March 2025 appearance at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut.
“And then all of a sudden, it was big to-do. I didn’t really realize it would hurt his eyes, I don’t know. I didn’t think that through … I wish I didn’t do that.”
Gabrielle Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman, added, “He got you back. He ran you over with a jet ski,” prompting Garth to tell the story of her injury.
“We were in the ocean filming and then they took the jet skis. They said, ‘Get on these and go into the shore for lunch,’ right? So, we got on the back of the jet skis and that’s when we had the bodyguards. And the bodyguards were each driving a jet ski, but Luke didn’t want his bodyguard to drive. He wanted to drive it,” Garth explained. “There was a fisherman and then there was a line, and he went through it and yelled ‘Duck,’ meaning, ‘Don’t let the line catch you,’ and I was like ‘What?'”
She continued, “And I got tagged! It didn’t like decapitate me or anything, but it hit my life jacket and hit me off the thing. So then Luke came around and tried to save me, but he hit me in the head.”
