Jennie Garth Felt Luke Perry’s Presence During a Tour Stop

While their onscreen chemistry was palpable, they also cultivated a genuine friendship. Jennie Garth has spoken about working through her grief after his death.
While speaking at the “I Choose Me” Live Summit, Garth reminisced about her friendship with Luke Perry. While she still thinks about him every day, she has always questioned whether or not his spirit was with her. However, that all changed during her book tour, PEOPLE reports.
While speaking about her late friend, Jennie’s mic malfunctioned unexpectedly.
“The weirdest thing happened to me on my last book tour stop,” the actress shared during the live summit. “My whole book tour, everybody wants to talk about Luke. I want to talk about Luke. I’ve always asked him, ‘Are you okay with what I’m saying? Are you here with me?’ Never heard a word from him. On my last stop in the middle of my speech, [the mic malfunction] happened. And I knew it was him.”
“I still I get goosebumps every time I talk about it and of course he waited till the last stop,” Garth fondly remembered. “Yeah, he showed up. Talk about the storm.”
The ‘90210’ Alum Had Feelings For Luke Perry While Filming

“Yeah. I do think he was my first true love,” she told PEOPLE.
In Garth’s memoir, she discusses how complicated the feelings became. Luke Perry became a heartthrob all over the world and she often became jealous.
“Everyone imagined him as their first true love. But it really was confusing. It got a little blurry at times,” the actress continued. “There were a lot of intimate conversations and moments between these two characters, and I think I got caught up in it and I allowed myself to think that it was real.”

“I still believe that there was something real there,” she remembered. “We had a very special relationship.”
