Sadly, his family has been at odds over his estate. The actor’s widow feels distraught over the sale of their family home in California and is moving forward with legal action.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Family Remains Divided Over His Estate
When Malcolm-Jamal Warner passed away, he left behind many loved ones, including his mother, Pamela, his wife, Tenisha, and their daughter, MacKenzie.
Unfortunately, Tenisha and Pamela Warner haven’t quite seen eye-to-eye over the late actor’s estate. Pamela Warner is the trustee of the Warner Family Trust, but Tenisha feels that she and her daughter are owed more than they’ve been given.
TMZ obtained new legal documents where Tenisha “insists Malcolm never meant to purposely leave Tenisha or their daughter MacKenzie out of the family trust.”
In the documents, Tenisha Warner claims that her late husband meant to leave the family home in California to her and her daughter. However, his mother Pamela ultimately sold the home, proceeding to put the profits in the trust.
TMZ references real estate records that indicate a home that Malcolm-Jamal Warner owned in Studio City, California, was sold in May 2026 for $1.6 million.
The outlet reports that Pamela Warner offered Tenisha and MacKenzie a home in Georgia. However, Tenisha wrote in the court documents that it has a sky-high $700,000 mortgage and “is no substitute for providing for MacKenzie from Malcolm’s estate.”
In the aftermath of the actor’s tragic passing, money from his estate went to pay Tenisha Warner’s monthly bills. However, she alleges in the documents that Pamela put a stop to the payments. Tenisha insists that her late husband always meant to provide for her and their daughter, even after his death.
The Family Has Experienced Other Financial Disagreements
In July 2026, Tenisha Warner sued Pamela Warner for $1.2 million over “pre-nup promises” that her late husband made before the wedding. TMZ reported that Malcolm-Jamal Warner had yet to deliver on the promises at the time of his 2025 death.
“According to the suit, Malcolm agreed to maintain a $1 million life insurance policy naming Tenisha as the sole beneficiary, but she claims he never purchased or maintained the policy,” TMZ wrote.

According to TMZ, Pamela Warner feels “hopeful that all parties will support the resolution.” The outlet notes that the resolution will cover MacKenzie’s college tuition and award her a portion of her late father’s estate.
Despite the ongoing disagreements over the estate, Pamela Warner still hopes to maintain a relationship with her granddaughter.
