Actor and star of “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian” star Pedro Pascal has paid an emotional tribute to his colleague Catherine O’Hara following her tragic death. The legendary”Home Alone” and “Schitt’s Creek” actress passed away on Friday, January 30.
Pedro Pascal Speaks About His Friendship With Catherine O’Hara
Posting on Instagram following the news of O’Hara’s death, Pascal spoke about how grateful he was to have spent time with his co-star in his career.
Accompanying a picture of himself and O’Hara posing together on the set of “The Last of Us,” Pascal wrote, “Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always. Always ♥️”
He then added, “The one and ONLY #CatherineOHara”
The pair worked together recently, with O’Hara guest starring in the second season of HBO’s hit post-apocalyptic series “The Last of Us.” This is a live-action adaptation of the video game series of the same name and the actress portrayed the character Gail Lynden in the show.
They both also lent their voices to characters in the 2024 animated film “The Wild Robot.” She starred alongside the likes of Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, and Mark Hamill in addition to Pascal.
Catherine O’Hara Passes Away Aged 71
GettyA report from TMZ indicates that O’Hara was rushed to hospital earlier this morning after seemingly becoming unwell. The Los Angeles Fire Department has since confirmed that first responders were called to her home in the earlier hours of the morning and she was subsequently taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Other reports suggest that O’Hara had been unwell before her passing and that the actress suffered from a brief illness recently.
O’Hara’s career spanned more than 50 years. She started with the sketch comedy series “Second City Television” in her native Canada before moving into movies with “Double Negative,” “Beetlejuice,” and “Home Alone.”
The last decade has seen a transition to more television projects, and in 2020, she won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her portrayal of Moira Rose in “Schitt’s Creek.”
Her most recent role saw her appear opposite Seth Rogen in the AppleTV+ series “The Studio,” which earned her another Emmy nomination.
