Howie Mandel recently celebrated his 70th birthday – but don’t mention he looks good for his age!
The “America’s Got Talent” judge appeared on “Live With Kelly And Mark” and encountered an awkward moment with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. The hosts tried to compliment him on how well he’s aging, but Mandel was having none of it, reports The Daily Mail.
Howie Mandel Calls Himself Gorgeous At 70
During his appearance on the show, Ripa made a comment acknowledging Mandel’s milestone birthday.
However, things got awkward when she and Consuelos tried to compliment Mandel on his looks.
“It doesn’t make sense,” Ripa said, before Mandel interrupted with “What do you mean, it doesn’t make sense? That I look great?”
Consuelos defended his wife’s comments, saying she was just trying to express “you look great.”
“That I look great? That doesn’t mean anything,” Mandel scoffed.
He continued, “No, no, no. I don’t like that because that’s a caveat. When you tell someone you’re 70, and they say you look great…”
Ripa then interjected, trying to clarify her comments.
“We’re not saying you look great for 70,” she explained. “We’re saying you look great and I don’t believe you’re 70.”
GettyHowever, Mandel wasn’t willing to let the comments go.
“No. No. It’s like saying you’re smart for a stupid person,” he snapped.
“‘Oh, you seem smart, you seem smart,’ you see, no, I don’t look good.”
Despite his protests, Mandel then joked he looked “gorgeous” and went on to discuss the workout routine responsible for his good looks.
Mandel Reveals “Ridiculous” Workout Routine
GettyMandel revealed the fitness routine responsible for keeping him in such great shape.
“Your friend Jerry O’Connell got me into the most ridiculous workout routine I’ve ever done in my life,” he told the hosts.
“I swim but have these cables which I tie onto my ankles, and then I attach them to whatever is on the side of the pool.”
“Then he gave me these frying pan paddles and I swim for an hour and go nowhere,” he added, admitting he gets “so lost in it.”
The comedian previously told Health Insight that his attitude on aging was all about perspective.
“What was important to me in my 30s is not important to me now,” he said.
“And you realize that things you chase don’t matter, and it’s just the ability to get up and even chase something. It’s about doing, just doing.”
