“American Idol” season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken recently marked a major parenting milestone, revealing that his 17-year-old son, Parker, attended his senior prom. On Instagram Stories, Aiken shared a photo of Parker looking dapper in a suit and posing alongside his date.
Aiken has rarely shared any photos of or spoken publicly about Parker, whom he welcomed with his longtime friend, Jaymes Foster, in August 2008. However, as Parker has grown older, Aiken appears to be way more open about his son and has even discussed whether he is following in his father’s footsteps into the entertainment industry.
Clay Aiken Gives Fans a Glimpse of His Grown-Up Son, Parker
GettyClay Aiken’s rarely seen son, 17-year-old Parker Aiken, recently attended his senior prom, and his famous father made sure to share the milestone with his Instagram followers. According to People, Parker was pictured dressed up for the occasion, posing alongside his date, who wore a bright yellow dress with a matching floral corsage, while he coordinated with a yellow tie and a matching boutonniere pinned to his jacket.
“Baby’s first prom night,” Aiken wrote on the photo. After sharing the photo, the singer joked in a second Instagram Story, “Oooh. Now he’s pissed,” alongside laughing emojis and a heart emoji.
As mentioned, Aiken shares Parker with Jaymes Foster, the sister of music producer David Foster, whom he welcomed via in vitro fertilization in August 2008. The following month, Aiken publicly came out as gay in an interview with People. The longtime friends have since co-parented Parker, with Aiken telling the publication, “No matter what the situation you’re in, if you’re raised in a loving environment, that’s the most important thing.”
Parker Made His TV Debut Alongside His Dad on ‘Family Feud’
According to the New York Post, in August 2024, Aiken and his family appeared on an episode of “Celebrity Family Feud,” where the singer brought along his son, Parker, who was 15 at the time. Aiken and his son were also joined by Parker’s mother, Jaymes, Aiken’s mother, Faye, and his brother, Brett.
The Aiken family competed alongside the Foster family, including David Foster, his wife, Katharine McPhee, his daughter Amy, McPhee’s sister Adriana, and Foster’s stepson, Brandon Jenner.
The appearance marked Parker’s television debut, giving fans a rare glimpse of Aiken’s son, who bears a striking resemblance to his famous father.
In fact, Parker helped seal the win when he correctly answered the question, “Name a famous Tom a girl would love to go to prom with.” After the Foster family struck out three times without guessing a valid answer, Parker stepped in with Tom Holland, securing one of the winning answers on the board.
Parker Is Not Following in His Father’s Footsteps
Speaking to People in June 2025, Aiken revealed that Parker doesn’t share his passion for singing. In fact, the “American Idol” alum revealed that Parker is training to become a pilot.
“He’s known what he wants to do for, gosh, his whole life,” Aiken began. “It was a little weird to me because I didn’t know what I wanted to do — I still don’t.”
Aiken shared that Parker had already taken his “first solo flight two weeks ago,” and joked, “Now we’re planning on the next one, which I’ll need even more Xanax for.” Aiken also seemed nervous learning that his son’s next test involved him flying solo “across the state.”
“I’m not going to be able to see the plane. You’re gonna have to sedate me. Just call an anesthesiologist because I don’t have the nerves for that,” he said.
At the time, Parker’s mother had already flown alongside her son. However, Aiken had not joined them, telling People that recent plane crashes had made him somewhat nervous about flying.
