“American Idol” season 22 finalist Jack Blocker is dropping his debut album and opening up about how the show affected his career. The country singer is releasing “The Land on Most High” on September 12, an album that reflects his Texas roots.
“I took away a lot of gratitude for home and where I grew up and the people I grew up around. That’s kind of what the whole album is about,” Blocker shared with Us Weekly.
“Just listening back to it makes me feel warm memories about family and about buddies and about funny stories and about my wife and all that, and so that’s what I take away from it personally,” he explained.
“The Land on Most High” also touches upon the struggles Blocker has faced throughout his fledgling career, including financial issues. The top 3 “Idol” finalist also revealed that the social media aspect of the business has been “frustrating.”
“It’s so easy to compare yourself to your peers and be your own worst critic,” Blocker said. “But ultimately, I love the journey, and I think the journey is part of what makes a career flourish.”
Jack Blocker Got Candid About Life After ‘Idol’
Blocker, 27, appeared on “American Idol” in 2024, making it all the way to the top 3 before getting eliminated. Getting so far on the show was not an immediate career boost for the country singer, but he never expected instant stardom.
“I don’t think ‘Idol’ ever advertises that you’re going to leave with a career,” Blocker said. “I think they advertise that you’re going to leave with more opportunity than you walked in with. And I think that is very true.”
While Blocker was happy to put in the work get his music out there, he acknowledged that coming down from “Idol” stardom felt strange at times.
“It’s tough sometimes to come from the show and then you go to play for 20 people in Iowa … The magnitude of it is so stark. But if music is the goal, then all of that is just part of it,” he explained.
Blocker’s Personal Life is Thriving
In addition to his new album release, Blocker has a lot to celebrate these days. Earlier this month, the singer announced via Instagram that he and his wife, Georgia, had welcomed a baby girl named June. Blocker is pictured holding the little bundle of joy, and his “Idol” family couldn’t have been happier for him.
Season 22 runner-up Will Moseley commented, “Congrats JB and Georgia! Can’t wait to meet baby June!❤️” and “Idol” winner Abi Carter could barely contain her excitement, commenting, “WOWOWOWOWOWOW this is the bestest news ever :,) congratulations to you both.”
