“American Idol” mentor Jelly Roll opened up about a tough moment in his marriage with Bunnie Xo during a vulnerable chat on the “Human School Podcast” on October 21.
“I don’t talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” he shared.
He added, “It was the first time I was like, ‘I can’t get this right at all.’ Like, I know I’m in love with this woman … [The affair] really blew me back.”
“I did a lot of work to repair the relationship,” the “Wild Ones” singer confessed. He shared that his relationship with Bunnie Xo was “stronger” than ever because of his affair. “I’m proud of who we are today,” he said.
Bunnie Xo Clarified Her & Jelly Roll’s Marriage Situation
Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll had previously opened up about allowing each other to be free to have relations outside their marriage. However, the former model is making it clear that they do not have an open relationship.
On Bunnie Xo’s June 12th podcast episode, she shared, “The only thing that we don’t do, though, is try to control the other person.”
She explained that if one of them wanted to sleep with another person, they wouldn’t try to prevent that from happening. “You can’t do that to people,” Bunnie Xo stated.
“Back in the day, that was how we looked at our relationship. We don’t want to tell each other what we can and can’t do. We have free will,” she reiterated.
Jelly Roll’s Marriage is Getting Better Over the Years
It’s unclear when Jelly Roll had the affair, but in April, he said on “The Pivot Podcast” that his marriage to Bunnie Xo keeps getting better.
“Everybody told me it’s going to get worse, and that was a lie. I guess we went through the hard [expletive] the first few years, because man, it’s only getting smoother,” the country singer shared.
Jelly Roll stated that he viewed his wife as “hotter” now and credited his weight loss for his newfound look at life. “I used to walk around … looking like Eeyore, now I’m walking around like Tigger, bouncing off my back tail,” he joked.
He couldn’t hold back his love for Bunnie Xo and gushed, “That’s my dude. You know what I’m saying, man? That’s my partner, man.”
The country star laughed about making fun of those who said, “That’s my person,” but now admitted to feeling the same way about his longtime wife.
