After eight weeks of watching the reality TV icons basically run the “Big Brother” Season 28 house, someone who has clearly had enough got the power to do something about it.
Yep, Barrett Pfeiffer is finally HOH. And he wasted absolutely no time making his intentions clear.
Angela (BB26), alongside Dee and Devens (both “Survivor” alums), have been a major force in the game, with the rest of the house repeatedly talking about how they need to break up the Icons. There have been plenty of opportunities to take a shot, but somehow, the trio has continued to stick together.
That changed when Barrett won his first Head of Household competition. Before the nomination ceremony, Barrett hinted to Drew that their Crossover alliance was about to crumble. Drew, however, still seemed to think Yash was the likely target.
Surprise! Barrett nominated all three Icons: Angela, Dee, and Devens. And honestly, it is hard to blame fans for being excited about it.
Fans Are Loving Barrett’s Big Game Move
ParamountBarrett’s reasoning was that if he didn’t make a big move now, he would have even more blood on his hands later. Considering how long the house has been trying to figure out what to do about the Icons, it was certainly a way to make his HOH count.
Fans on X were quick to celebrate the nominations.
One fan joked that Barrett had officially earned their permanent support, writing:
“Requested olivia rodrigo music and put up all 3 icons barrett you have my stan card permanently.”
Another viewer was simply happy to see someone finally take a shot, saying:
“Yes! Finally someone playing big brother and taking shots 🙌🏾”
And then there was a fan who was especially excited about Barrett protecting some of the other players while putting all three Icons in danger.
“Barrett made the biggest move of this season by nominating all of The Icons for Eviction! So happy Angela, Dee & Devens are all nominated for Eviction! Barrett is making sure an Icon goes to the Jury House! So glad Barrett kept Taylor, Melody, Yash & Drew safe! This eats! #BB28”
That reaction really says a lot about why this move feels so different. Barrett didn’t just nominate one Icon and hope the rest of the house handled the problem. He put all three of them in the exact same position.
Another viewer summed up their feelings pretty simply:
“Better late than never. Feared this day would never come”
And then came a comment that turned out to be very important:
“Yash has to win veto. These nominations can not change 🤞”
Well, guess what? Yash won the Power of Veto. Yep, that comment became a prediction.
Yash Wins the Veto, Which Makes Things More Interesting
ParamountAlongside the nominees and other selected houseguests, Yash competed in the classic BB Comics competition, and he came out on top. According to live-feed reports, including one from Online Big Brother, he beat Devens by 26 seconds. That gives Yash a pretty important decision to make.
Barrett’s plan if one of the Icons won the Veto was to put Yash on the block, since he had previously promised Melody she would not be nominated. But now Yash has the power, and using it could force Barrett to make another nomination.
There is also the matter of Yash’s deal with Dee after she won the BB Bribe through the BB Time Capsule. The deal prevents Yash from nominating the Icons himself, which makes his Veto decision even more interesting.
If Yash takes one of the nominees down, Barrett will have to name a replacement. That could give Yash a way to make a move against the Icons without technically being the person who nominates one of them.
Of course, Yash could also leave the nominations exactly where they are. And let’s be real, that might be the most entertaining option. If the nominations stay the same, Angela, Dee, and Devens will all remain on the block heading into eviction night. They would then have to face one another in the BB Blockbuster to fight for safety.
That means one of the three Icons could become the second member of the “Big Brother” Season 28 jury.
After spending so much of the season wondering whether anyone would actually take a shot at this group, that would be a pretty major development.
Did Barrett Really Change the ‘Big Brother’ 28 Game?
ParamountThere is still plenty of game left to play this week, so it is too early to know whether Barrett’s move will ultimately work out for him.
But it seems like he finally did what so many fans have been waiting for. He stopped talking about breaking up the Icons and actually took the shot. And he did it with all three of them.
Honestly, that is what makes this HOH so much fun to watch. Even if the nominations change, Barrett has already made it clear that he is willing to go against people he was previously working with.
One person on a r/BigBrother Reddit thread summed up the season pretty well.
That really does feel like the perfect description of “Big Brother” Season 28.
Everyone has been trying to break up the Crossover alliance. Everyone has had a plan. And somehow, the Icons have continued to find a way through it.
Now Barrett has finally created a situation where that might not be possible.
Whether Yash uses the Veto or leaves the nominations alone, this week is already looking very different from the ones that came before it. And if the Icons have to battle one another for safety in the BB Blockbuster, we could be looking at one of the biggest shake-ups of the season.
For once, the house isn’t just talking about taking a shot at the Icons. Someone actually took it.
Fans will have to tune in Sunday and Wednesday to see all the action play out, and then Thursday to see who wins the BB Blockbuster and who is evicted, becoming the second member of the jury.
