After a two-year absence, “Big Brother Canada” is officially making its return. But while fans are celebrating the revival of the popular reality TV competition, they’ll be saying goodbye to one familiar face. Longtime host Arisa Cox will not be returning for the show’s new chapter. Check out the details below in our “Big Brother Canada” spoilers.
‘Big Brother Canada’ Revival
Bell Media announced the revival of “Big Brother Canada” just two years after the show was cancelled. Officials said production for the show will begin in Montréal in spring 2027, which will air on Crave and CTV.
One of the biggest shockers with this news, besides the return of the show, is that Arisa Cox won’t be returning as host. Instead. Andrea Bain, who has co-hosted the daytime panel talk show “The Social” since 2023, will now be serving as the host of “Big Brother Canada” Season 13. Bain previously hosted shows like “The Goods” and “Live Here, Buy This” on HGTV.
In the Instagram post, Bain wrote, “The secret is finally out!!! I am beyond thrilled to announce that ‘Big Brother Canada’ is returning to CTV in Spring 2027, and I’ll be your hostess with the mostess as we welcome a brand new group of Houseguests into one of the most iconic reality TV franchises in the world.”
Bain is excited about the new gig, adding, “If you’ve watched me over the years, you know how much I love reality television, big personalities, unexpected twists, and unforgettable moments. So to now be part of a franchise that has delivered all of that for decades is truly a dream come true.”
Details on ‘Big Brother Canada’ Return
For this revival, “Big Brother Canada” will be produced by Entourage. This happens to be the production company behind the French-language series “Big Brother Célébrités.” No casting details have been shared yet.
“Big Brother Canada” previously ran for 12 seasons between 2015 and 2024. Cox served as host of the show during the previous run, which saw two seasons air on Slice before moving to Global TV for Seasons 3 through 12.
Fans of “Big Brother Canada” saw a major shift between its 10th and 11th seasons. Production decided to eliminate the 24/7 live feeds, which allowed viewers to watch every single moment of the competition. After two seasons without the live feeds, Global TV opted not to renew the show.
In a social media post at the time, Cox said, “It was heartbreaking for us when the network pulled the feeds and fundamentally changed the nature of how we experience the show. We fought for them. I fought for them.”
A Shift From Global TV
This is the second big announcement for Global TV and “Big Brother” this week. Besides “Big Brother Canada” moving to Crave and CTV, it was also announced this week that the U.S. version of “Big Brother” would be airing its final season on Global TV this summer.
Global TV confirmed the change while announcing the Season 28 schedule for Canadian viewers. However, they did not share where Canadian viewers can watch “Big Brother” after Season 28 ends.
