Perez Hilton Rushed Back to Hospital for Another Emergency Surgery

Self-proclaimed “Original Influencer” Perez Hilton was rushed to the hospital after suffering a setback in his recovery, days after being released after a lengthy sepsis battle.

“I’m back in the hospital, and I was admitted,” the former “Celebrity Big Brother UK” star shared in a video from his hospital bed, which he shared via Instagram on Thursday, April 2.

Perez Hilton Rushed Into Emergency Surgery

The 48-year-old celebrity journalist explained that a blood clot in his leg forced him back into the hospital just one week after being released.

“I’m back at the best hospital in Las Vegas. I’ve already seen some of the nurses that took care of me for 21 days when I was here fighting and beating sepsis, thanks to these amazing doctors, nurses, and God,” Hilton said. “And now, I’m back, and I have to have emergency surgery tomorrow. And I’m so happy. I’m so grateful. Because this is a blessing from God. We caught this early.”

He continued, “I went to see my surgeon today. Really good timing. And last night, I started having real soreness and pain in one of my legs. And this morning, it got way worse. I couldn’t even walk. I had to use my walker. So when my surgeon saw that, he sent me to the hospital to get checked out, have an ultrasound, and see if I had a blood clot. And I do.”

According to Hilton, doctors found a “massive” deep vein thrombosis, which runs from his groin area to about two-thirds down his leg.

“If that blood clot had gone to my lungs, or my heart, it could have been real bad,” he added. “So tomorrow I’m having a thrombectomy, where they are knocking me out. I’m being put under in emergency surgery and they’re going to remove the fully occluded blood clot.”

Perez Hilton Fought Sepsis

The latest update in his health battle comes one week after his 48th birthday. In celebration of his big day, Hilton shared an emotional YouTube video explaining his health journey to fans.

He explained that a doctor prescribed antibiotics to help him fight the flu. However, he failed to take the medication with food and ended up with an ulcer.

The ailment ultimately led to him undergoing laparoscopic surgery, among other procedures, to clear the infection from his body.

“Now that I’m home, I’m not 100 percent,” he said in the March 23 video. “I brought the hospital with me…They had to insert a pick line, which is like a big fancy scary IV with two lines, and one goes to my heart.”
