Season 27 of “Big Brother” wrapped up Sunday, September 28 with a final showdown between house guests Morgan Pope, Vince Panaro, and Ashley Hollis. Pope was widely considered a frontrunner, with Kat Dunn saying the gamer is her top choice because “she’s peaking at exactly the right time,” according to Us Weekly. Dunn went on, “Her streak of clutch competition wins, paired with a clean social game and minimal betrayals, gives her both the résumé and the jury goodwill to seal the deal.”
The jury consisted of Rachel, Will, Kelley, Lauren, Keanu, Ava, and the second runner-up who was announced during the finale. Now, with season 27 at an end, loyal fans are already looking forward another season. Here’s everything we know so far about “Big Brother” season 28 on CBS.
Is ‘Big Brother’ Renewed for Season 28?
Parade says CBS hasn’t officially made a renewal announcement yet, but it’s obvious the classic reality game show will be back for another season. That’s because they’ve already opened casting to applicants. The “Big Brother” application page reads, “Big Brother is now accepting applications for season 28!”
So what are the requirements to get on the show? CBS says house guest hopefuls must be U.S. citizens and meet several more criteria. Auditioners have to be willing to travel at their own expense for a casting interview. If they are selected for the Finals, they must take a week-long trip to Los Angeles, but this will be paid by production.
The full list of eligibility rules can be found here. Interestingly, the page indicates that the prize money is being reduced to $700,000, from the $750,000 awarded in season 27.
The ‘Big Brother’ Jury Shared Their Thoughts Ahead of Season 27 Finale
Keeping with tradition, EW conducted a pre-finale interview with the jury members. They were first asked about the best parts of being on the jury, and Rachel Reilly said she’s loving the freedom. She named being in control of the light and sleeping as long as she wants as some of the taken-for-granted luxuries she’s missed about normal life. Kelley Jorgensen said she was enjoying getting to know her castmates on a deeper level without the pressure of the cameras.
The jurors were also asked to choose who in the group played the best game. Rachel chose herself, Will and Kelly chose Keaunu, Lauren chose Rachel, and Keaunu chose Will.
