“Southern Charm” stars Craig Conover and Madison LeCroy were guest judges on the April 20 episode of “Top Chef” season 23, where the Bravo co-stars and good friends challenged the competitors to create dishes that could be featured on Cracker Barrel’s menu.
Speaking to BravoTV, Conover shared that he and “Top Chef” host Kristen Kish formed a close bond working together, even teaming up behind-the-scenes to hilariously recreate one of his most iconic “Southern Charm” moments.
Craig Conover Recreates ‘Southern Charm’ Scene With ‘Top Chef’ Host Kristen Kish
Craig Conover appeared to have a fantastic time guest judging Episode 7 of “Top Chef” season 23, and he and Kristen Kish made the most of their downtime by recreating one of his most iconic “Southern Charm” moments.
Sharing the clip on Instagram, the pair put a playful spin on Conover’s unforgettable “you sit home and you sew” scene, originally from “Southern Charm” season 5 with ex-girlfriend Naomie Olindo.
“You sit home and you COOK and you pretend to do things,” Conover begins, prompting Kish to say his well-known line, but changing “sewing” with “cooking:” “What’s wrong with my cooking?”
Fans in the comment section shared how much they loved the recreation and seeing Conover on “Top Chef.”
“Omg! Classic!! Love that! Good job Craig!!” A fan shared. “Gold 😂😂😂,” another person wrote. “Epic duo,” another shared.
Conover Shares How He Quickly Bonded With Kish
Conover told BravoTV that he built a solid friendship with Kish after his appearance on “Top Chef.” “I got to become really close with [host] Kristen Kish. That was something really great that I took away from it,” he said.
Conover also noted that he and Kish have stayed in touch since filming the episode. Kish, for her part, shared that she had a great time welcoming Conover and LeCroy as guest judges.
“I love a natural crossover. That is the first time…I met [Craig and Madison], and since then, I’ve seen them so many places. Having guest judges is really important on ‘Top Chef.’ It offers another perspective. It adds to the conversation. It gives us a different way of thinking or talking about food, she shared, adding, “It’s always really fun and exciting to have non-food people on the show, because it does offer a different perspective.”
The Sewing Down South owner had a fantastic time on the set of “Top Chef,” although he revealed he initially had “butterflies.”
“I remember standing behind the desk with [Madison] during a break or something, and I was like, ‘How cool is this, Madison?’ “We’re judges on ‘Top Chef’—this is really neat.” He said.
Showing his love for the show, Conover was also present during the “Top Chef” season 23 premiere party in Charlotte in March. He was joined by his “Southern Charm” co-stars Shep Rose and Austen Kroll.
Conover and LeCroy’s “Top Chef” episode is now available to stream on Peacock.
